Stripe and auth/capture

My understanding is that Stripe doesn't support auth/capture. This is also discussed in this article (http://www.ror-e.com/posts/19). So how is it that the Stripe gateway in ActiveMerchant supports auth/capture (as shown in the feature matrix https://github.com/Shopify/active_merchant/wiki/gatewayfeaturematrix )?
