Hi

I am trying to figure out what access control system I should use for
my application. I like ActiveRBAC, but I have some questions, like: is
this project currently under development? Does it behave well with
rails 2.0.*? Is this google group active enough to get fast answers to
any questions?

If I choose ActiveRBAC I will be happy to contribute with any bugs/
solutions I find, but it is always nice to know if anyone is caring
for the project.

Sincerely

Nina Jansen

Hi, Nina.

You are welcome to contribute to the project. I do not know if anyone
is using it with Rails 2.0 (I have no Rails 2.0 projects right now).

If you have questions or have problems, I am sure people will respond.
However, "fast" is pretty relative IMO.

Bests,

Manuel

I am using ActiveRBAC for Rails 2.0.2 and it seems to work quite well.
I had small problems with the original setup but that was before the most recent
update so things have improved.  Unfortunately not knowing much
about your project it is hard to say if you need RBAC.

The fact that two different people have responded to my questions
reassures me that there is help availible if I need it. So I think I
will investigate activeRBAC further.

@Greg: good to know you have success on rails 2.02. I will definitely
need very advanced access control, I will have many users, they will
all have their own profile and they will have friends who have more
privileges than complete strangers and so on. I have worked with
access control lists before, but I find role-based access control
intriguing.

Again, thanks for your responses.

Sincerely

Nina Jansen
