Just wondering how the site personalization feature is working for
everyone. We went live with the feature turned off because the
application was not ready (and still isn't). Our new ETA for the
application is March 2010 and we are discussing turning the
personalization feature back on. Any comments/recommendations on the
effectiveness of the feature?

We are live with our application, but haven't gone live with
personalization yet. Sorry I couldn't be much more help. We are
shoehorning prospects into a couple of pools, mainly prospective
student, alumni, community memter... we still need to split out the
prospects into more groups related to what they want to see.

However, we've been unable to get any direction from our admissions
department, so that part of the project is on hold indefinitely.

Well our site is live and we have it all set up to personalize, my
observation of this the entire time has been that - how do they
know?!?!? If someone says they are interested in Nursing and some
Nursing spotlights and even news stories display on the screen - how
are they going to know it is "personalized?" The page does not change
in appearance so unless they really realized what was happening this
whole use of the word "personalization" is pretty broad. Just my two
cents.

On a more global aspect, one could make other content types that are
more visible. For instance, you could set up the header image on the
site to be a content type that is displayed based on their
personalization.

You could display entirely new things on the home page, such as
Scholarships specific to a certain audience. (ie. Nursing).

If you have non-prospect audiences they could have a customized part
of the page with links to the most popular aspects, such as theatre,
concert information, rodeo and other sports schedules.

Each zone can be setup to display different content based on their
audience. So perhaps for a prospect, you show a spotlight relevant to
them, but if it was a community member, it would show the event
schedule and news items?

Just some food for thought.
