I finished reading your book today. I could give you all kinds of
praise about how well put together it is and how much I enjoyed the
stories, quotes & examples... but I think the greatest compliment
would be to activate my own ambitions and honor you through
accomplishment.
What struck me most was on page 133 when you talked about internal vs.
external motivation. You even used sales as an example of a
profession that relies on external motivation. I never really saw the
difference until now. I have spent my entire career motivated
externally. Dave & I have an inside joke about how I want a plaque to
acknowledge me as a great mother & wife. No wonder I have found it
difficult to get into action on a longer term goal (writing my book)
because, as you said, I have been programmed to rely on others pushing
instead of my own pulling.
The other concept that really had an impact was the concept of
normalcy. I can't tell you how many times I have stopped, probably
moments before reaching that point. Now that I have a label for it
and the rest of the AMBITION acronym to help me along I will/ am
making adjustments to be more effective and stick with it beyond the
point when it is normal.
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed the book. There is no doubt that
the investment of time reading it will pay off when I apply what I
have learned and activate my ambition.
