Hi all!
I know it's been awhile, but I'm sending out a quick note to make sure everyone has the tools they need to be informed voters this Midterm election! Early voting has started in some states, and will start soon in others, so make sure you're ready and have a voting plan to get your vote cast on or before November 6th!
1. Find out when and where early voting is in your state
Early voting is typically the most convenient way to vote, and saves you from missing out on voting if your schedule gets busy on November 6th. If your state doesn't have early voting, encourage your state legislature to change that!
Early voting locations: Google search "early voting locations" and your county. Here's the link for Harris County: harrisvotes.com: Early Voting Locations
2. Find out who is on your ballot, and what their stances are on the issues
Every election, the League of Women Voters puts together voter guides in communities across the country. Now they've got a neat tool that shows you who is on your ballot, what the role of each elected official is, and it compiles each candidate's talking points in an easy to use guide that's tailored specifically to you. Check it out!

3. Make your voting plan
Voting is important, so don't leave it up to chance! Make a plan for when and where you're going to vote, what you'll need to bring with you, and how you plan on getting there. If transportation is limited for you, check out
Uber and
Lyft's free rides to the polls. Ask your friends, family, and coworkers if they want to make a plan with you, then make a fun event out of it! I am setting up a lunch then vote meeting with my coworkers during early voting. Everyone's excited about it!
4. Volunteer to help GOTV!
Between now and November 6, we need all hands on deck, getting the word out there to make sure every American knows how and where to vote, and understands how important their vote is. When corporations and PACs spend millions trying to sway election outcomes, why wouldn't everyone want to use their FREE opportunity to make an impact? Volunteer for a specific candidate by finding their website or facebook page and signing up or calling their office. Or, volunteer for a get out the vote organization like
Rock the Vote.

If there are any great resources or volunteer opportunities that I'm missing, please send them my way and I'll send them out to everyone next week. Happy calling, canvassing, postcard writing, donating, and voting to y'all! Let's do everything we can for America!
Much love,
Marieke
