Hi y'all!

I know you've all been missing these fun action emails in your inbox. :) I've shifted my focus to the Texas state legislature because there are so many opportunities to make a huge impact on Texas and ultimately the nation if we can push some sensible policies here in the Lone Star State. So here's my action email this week for Texas. And if you are interested in signing up for this content at Indivisible TX Lege Action Network, please do!

The November 2019 election is upon us! Here is a quick action email to help you prep to get out and vote, as well as a few other action items. Let's get to work!

In our actions, there will often times be requests to call your elected officials. Check here to find who represents you at every level of government!

1. Vote!

Early voting is underway, and goes through Friday, November 1 and Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. Statewide, there are nine Constitutional Amendments to vote on, and you likely have local races and ballot initiatives. Get in the habit and get out and vote - and take a friend or two with you too!

2. Attend a Redistricting Hearing Near You!

Redistricting is upon us, and will be a major focus of the 2021 legislative session. The House Redistricting Committee has already begun hearings across the state. If you can attend one and give testimony, please do! And if you can't, but know someone who would be interested, please make sure they're aware of the opportunity.

3. Call Governor Greg Abbott, AG Ken Paxton, and your state Rep and Senator to stop harassment of 7 year old child.

Just this week, our Governor, Attorney General, and several State Representatives targeted a 7 year old transgender child, going so far as to publicly state her name and spreading lies about her, putting her and her mother's safety at risk. Hate has no place in Texas, and this behavior cannot be tolerated. Call all of your elected officials and push them to stop the fear-mongering and instead work for a Texas where all Texans' privacy, safety, and individual rights are protected and respected.

Say: "Hi, I'm a constituent of [Governor/AG/Representative/Senator] _________ and I'm calling because I was horrified to learn that several elected Texas officials recently identified a transitioning 7 year old by name, and spread lies about her mother wanting to chemicals castrate her. By doing so, they've put the lives of these two Texans in danger. It's unbelievable that there is such little regard for this child's safety, and that anyone would target a child for political gain. I want [Governor/AG/Representative/Senator] ___________ to issue a statement in support of this family and encourage all electeds to devote state resources to ensure the family's safety. And if the [Governor/AG/Representative/Senator] wants to focus on protecting Texas children, I strongly encourage them to focus on real threats, like our abysmally low child healthcare insurance rate. My zip code is _____."

4. Volunteer to help Indivisible TX Lege Flip Texas and Save America!

Y'all, we live in a huge state. You've probably seen the news that if Texas flips, there's no way a certain "Republican" can be reelected to the Presidency. And for Texas related work, if we don't flip the Texas House of Representatives, we will likely have no bipartisan voice at the redistricting table. The work we do between now and November 2020 is vital, both for Texas and for the country, and we need your help!
