Hi all,

It's time to turn tragedy into action. Let's get to work!

1. Find inspiration and hope
After a week like this one, it can be challenging to keep going. But it's up to us not to let cynicism creep in and take over. We have to harness our anger, sorrow, and outrage and turn it into action. And remember to take care of yourself!

2. Call your MoCs to step up and pass legislation to prevent school shootings
It's unconscionable that our legislators have done absolutely nothing to reduce the numbers of mass shootings in our country. In a politically divisive climate, we can all agree that our children's lives shouldn't be at risk at school.

3. Find a town hall during this session of recess February 17-25 and ask your MoCs tough questions
You know the drill. Recess is an opportunity for face time with your MoC. Push them on the issues they've avoided in the past year: gun violence, Dreamers, healthcare, and the Russian investigation.

4. Don't let the Senate leave Dreamers in limbo
The Senate's debates last week on immigration got us no where. The GOP continues to use Dreamers as a bargaining chip to curtail immigration and fund a wall. Make sure your MoCs know that it's a priority to pass legislation to protect Americans.

For our Texans

1. Vote!
Texas has first in the nation primaries for the 2018 midterms, and early voting starts TOMORROW! In Texas, you can vote early at any open polling place in your county. Early voting goes from February 20 - March 2; and Election Day is March 6.

2. Invite your friends to go vote with you!
Make voting an event. Make it fun. Make it something to celebrate. Voting rules in Texas are complicated and can be intimidating. Let your friends know that you're there to help them feel comfortable and empowered.

Keep up the great work. We're in this together.

Much love,
Marieke
