Dear friends and extended community members, the Alder Street Co-op again has an opening!
The basement bedroom will be vacant 2/1, and we aim to choose its new resident by 3/1, give or take a few weeks (depending on how the interview process goes.) It’s a spacious underground nook in our Central District home, perfect for someone who wants a space to nest while being a part of a warm, goofy, and caring community.
Rent is $525 per month. Additionally, we split utilities and pay into a collective food fund each month, which saves us money and keeps our pantry well-stocked. A further discussion upon a phone interview or house tour can detail information on house dues.
Currently, we are 5 humans and a cat (sorry, no room for additional cats and dogs). Some of our interests include: dance, improvisational movement, art, social justice, environmental mindfulness, songwriting, sound healing, collage, poetry, crafting, gardening, writing, appreciating absurdity, getting irritated by absurdity, sacred clowning, and kitchen witchery.
We are structured loosely as a community of mutual support, and have been a cooperative for about 20 years. We make decisions consensually during our house meetings, which occur every 4-6 weeks. We all have house chores that rotate after each meeting. Each of us cooks family-style house meals twice a month. We buy healthy organic and/or local food with our collective funds. We are immensely grateful for the home we have developed!
If you are interested in this chance to live with us, please email us with the following information:
