Happy Friday Everybody! (April 19, 2013)
I know everyone in Waco wants to do what’s best and most helpful for our neighbors in West. Right this minute l the reports I am getting seem to be saying that one of the best and most helpful things is to give money (also blood!). Here are some possibilities:
· Donate money to the relief at Point West Bank & Trust (254) 826-5333 or State National Bank (254) 826-3741.
· Visit Waco Foundation’s website, www.wacofoundation.org, and click the “West, Texas Disaster Relief Efforts Fund” link on the homepage.
· Online giving portal on the Baylor University website: www.baylor.edu/relief/give.
For a compilation of all the information Act Locally Waco has been receiving regarding the explosion and how to help, please visit our “announcements” page: http://www.actlocallywaco.org/get-involved/general-announcements/. Click here for the info I have received as of 5:15 this morning. (I hope I didn’t drive everyone crazy with emails -- but I thought you might want to get the info quickly.)
Please keep a prayer and a good thought for the residents of West and for the people who are working so hard to help. Thank you as always for all you do! – ABT

Diane Ravitch—former assistant secretary of education and a leader in the drive to create a national curriculum—examines her career in education reform and repudiates positions that she once staunchly advocated. She shows conclusively why the business model is not an appropriate way to improve schools. Using examples from major cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, and San Diego, Ravitch makes the case that public education today is in peril.” Whether you agree or not, it’s always a great conversation. Join us! For more information RSVP to Ashley_...@baylor.edu.
