Act Locally Waco: Two more important announcements re: West

·         The Salvation Army has opened a donation warehouse to respond to the needs in West at 101 Apron Rd. in Waco. We are now accepting donations at that location and will be transporting them into West as needed. We can use volunteers to help sort donations daily from 8am to 7pm, just show up at 101 Apron Rd. if you are able to volunteer. ·         The American Red Cross and partner agencies have coordinated efforts to open a Joint Assistance Center to help residents of West, Texas following an explosion of a fertilizer plant. The Center will be open today, Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 1:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 2547 Jerry Mashek Drive, West, Texas.  Families can meet with agencies such as the American Red Cross, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities, UMCORP, Austin Disaster Relief Network and others.  Because of road closures around the Knights of Columbus, families are encouraged to follow these driving directions: Take I-35 North to County Line Rd. Turn right on County Line road and then right on Jerry Mashek Drive. Look for the smaller building in the trees.
