Folks,
Hope your Relay season is coming together well! Let's make this the biggest and best Relay season ever!
At this point in the year, hopefully your committee is going strong and you are doing some of the following:
* RECRUITING TEAMS - Here are some places to look for teams, if you need more (and we always do!):
http://www.acsrelay.org/Darn_Good_Ideas/10-Team_Relations_Wheel_Of_Fortune_Where_To_Find_Teams.doc
* BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH COMPANIES - you have found some good corporate sponsors and are making connections with more and more companies
* USING YOUR COMMITTEE TO GET WORK DONE - you are having committee meetings and getting updates from your committee on what's going on with each of them... If they want some tips on the things to do/how to organize their work, you might direct them to:
http://www.acsrelay.org/manualandDGIs.php
to find a Roles/Responsibilities/Timeline for their respective committee, as well as a lot of ideas they can reapply. It will help them to get clear on what they need to do each week/month between now and your event.
* MARKETING YOUR EVENT - Consider an "Advertising Blitz Saturday" – paper the town with posters, brochures, requests for in kind donations, search for teams, etc. You all can meet in a central location, split the town up, and spread out with Relay information to talk to businesses... we have heard of events doing this both on Saturday mornings as well as weekday afternoon... You are most likely to get managers of a business on a weekday, from our experience. But volunteers are not always available, so a Saturday morning can work too.
* HAVING TEAM CAPTAIN MEETINGS AND BANK NIGHTS - Team Captain meetings and bank nights are great opportunities to educate your team... Here are some ideas you can share:

* TALKING ABOUT YOUR IDEAS AND ASKING YOUR QUESTIONS AT
HTTP://WWW.RELAYAMERICA.COM - Relayamerica.com is a great place to look at ideas shared by your fellow volunteers, and ask your own questions and share your ideas. This is a great on-line discussion site where many great ideas have come from... Check it out!
* TALK TO US! - Please email
moor...@aol.com with any specific ideas, questions, or comments. If you have an idea you successfully reapplied from
acsrelay.org or
relayamerica.com, we'd love to know!
If you have any feedback on this update, please let us know too.
