Good afternoon.
I imagine most of you have completed check-outs and are in the process of preparing to enjoy the summer or prepping for the upcoming year. We are feeling a little mixed up by functioning in two worlds-the present and the future. But as the Student Life saying goes "an empty parking lot is a lovely parking lot."
In assessing our Residence Life staff training in August, one of the bedrocks is the "Behind Closed Doors" confrontation scenarios. Many schools create a similar experience for students. Typically the RAs walk up to a door, are primed by a note describing the context, knock on the door and proceed through a scenario enacted by staff. It allows them to process and debrief a myriad of confrontation/crisis situations. We are at the point where we would like to mix up some of our scenarios. I was wondering if you could share with me a copy of the scenarios you and your institution use to train the RAs. I am particularly interested in any scenario that might require a cultural leap on the part of the RA.
Thanks for your help.
Have a great summer
