Friends—

Just a quick note from your ACSD webmaster...

I got a call from our provider today letting me know in advance that they are upgrading servers again, and this might cause a slight disruption in the ACSD Mailing List.  This transition should occur tomorrow (Friday) or early next week, but we are working together to do all that we can to minimize the inconvenience to you.  I have archives of messages, as well as a list of all members, should the worst case scenario occur.

You shouldn’t have to do anything during this time, and you might not notice much of a change at all, but I wanted you to be aware of this event.  Thanks so much!

Corey

Friends,
I am going to bring up three topics that we currently do have educational programming for but we are looking for other options.
We are looking for ideas so it is not just a lecture like they get in high school.
The topics are:
Sex
Pregnancy
Alcohol
Any thoughts or programming ideas would enhance what we are already doing.

I will forward any ideas on to our VP of Student Life.  Thanks for your help.

We typically address several every year, and have done the following:

  • Alcohol
  • Relationship Issues (dating/marriage)
  • Roommate relationships
  • Online Safety
  • Health Fair
  • Eating Disorders
  • Homosexuality
  • Pornography
  • Money Management

I have not yet, but would like to address gambling, as it becomes more prevalent, even on television.

Brent’s list is a good one.  I would suggest broadening eating disorders to cover all “body image” stuff-then you can pull both men and women into the conversation pretty easy.  We have done stuff with Invisible Children, Acting on Aids, etc. that have stimulated thinking and reflection on campus; issues of cultural dynamics (domestic and international) are also extremely valuable
