As I mentioned in the Facebook Group, Camp Contact will be at the Figment DC event this September 28th and 29th, and we'd like someone to offer Acro classes each day for 1.5 hours. We'll also need help setting up the dome on Friday and taking it down on Sunday.  This is also  a great place for an acro jam, and a great place for a spontaneous Acro performance to happen.

If you're interested in teaching or otherwise helping, please e-mail me at in...@campcontact.org and join our facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/campcontacteastcoast/.

I will not be in town this weekend as I'll be away at a 10 day silent meditation, but we'll have a planning meeting in a few weeks to get everyone coordinated.

p.s. Here are more details about Figment itself:

Are you ready for FIGMENT fun?

Can you believe that our second annual FIGMENT DC
<http://dc.figmentproject.org/2012-about/about/>
 is only a few short weeks away? Mark your calendars for September
28th and 29th, forward this email to your friends and family, and make
your plans for a day of creativity and play out in nature! It's one of
your last chances for outdoor fun before the autumn chill. What are
you bringing?

What are we bringing this week?

 Make art happen: Volunteer

 at FIGMENT DC!

 Sneak Peek: the Bring It Home

 grant-winning projects you'll see at FIGMENT this fall

 Beautiful friendships: Our partnerships with Art4All

A view from the inside: Volunteer!

What's even more fun than attending FIGMENT DC? Joining the volunteer
runtime crew!

We're completely serious! When you volunteer at FIGMENT, you get
caught up in the high energy of being part of something big. You get a
shortcut to meeting and talking to all kinds of amazing people
(especially helpful if you're shy!) You get to keep your free FIGMENT
staff t-shirt. And you get to laugh and bond and enjoy that team
spirit as you work alongside other volunteers.

Sign-ups for volunteers are open now
<http://dc.figmentproject.org/2012-involved/2013-involvedvolunteer/>
. Shifts are only a few hours long, so you have plenty of time to
picnic and play before or afterward. We need people for all kinds of
tasks, from setup and cleanup to greeting and check-in. We especially
need a few volunteers trained in first aid! Last year, our volunteers
had a blast. Come on out and join us this fall!

The Nerve Tank's Sisyphus 2.0, a giant motion-reactive sound sphere,
coming to FIGMENT DC 2013

Meet the Bring It Home grant winners-- coming to a FIGMENT near you!

The results are in! This summer, we partnered with the Playa Del Fuego
<http://playadelfuego.org/>
 board to support the community artists who are so important to both
FIGMENT and PDF. The Bring It Home community art grant
<http://dc.figmentproject.org/?page_id=4508>
 awarded $2,000 in funding for art projects that will go to either (or
both) FIGMENT DC or FIGMENT Philadelphia, and then to Playa del Fuego
in October.

Please join us in congratulating the awardees! First, we have The One
Thing presented by Eleanor Hall and Connected Potential, in which a
single large canvas and finger paints invites people to use their
hands to name the one thing they would do to make the world a better
place. Connected Potential <http://connectedpotential.org/>
 provides young adults with the advice, resources, and
personal/professional connections needed to implement the social
change projects that energize and inspire them.

We are also pleased to announce Save and Continue by Franco Brockelman
and Branden Hall. This fun interactive sculpture uses a big button
with lights and sound to mimic the "save point" in a video game,
enticing participants to save their progress in life and move forward
with the confidence that they won't be knocked back to the beginning
of the level!

Both these fantastic projects will be among the many fantastic
projects
<http://dc.figmentproject.org/2012-about/projects-artists-2013/>
 at FIGMENT DC, so come on out and experience them for yourself.
Congratulations again to the artists, and many thanks to the PDF board
for a fruitful partnership!

The beginnings of beautiful friendships...

We're thrilled to share news of our fantastic new partnerships!

Art4All DC <http://art4alldc.org/about-art4all-dc/>
 is a "festival of festivals", a three-week celebration of the arts
across all four quadrants of DC, bringing together many different
events under a collaborative umbrella through the work of Cultural
Tourism DC <http://www.culturaltourismdc.org/>
. FIGMENT DC, we're proud to say, is listed as a Signature Event on
Art4All's calendar. Thanks to our friends at Cultural Tourism and
Art4All for spreading the word about us!

With a sprawling park setting and bike trails right alongside the
North Field, FIGMENT DC is a natural fit for bicycle enthusiasts. It's
perfect, therefore, that we'll be joined by the Washington Area
Bicyclist Association <http://www.waba.org/>
. They're sharing FIGMENT news with their membership, and we're
looking forward to their ART of Bicycling project.

Stay tuned as even more great friendships develop!

 Michael Verdon's Bike Jousting, returning for a second year at
FIGMENT DC (c) 2013 Man on the Street DC

Plan a party at FIGMENT DC!

FIGMENT is even more fun with friends, so what better excuse to start
making plans with all those people with whom you keep meaning to spend
some quality time? Before the too-busy monster devours your calendar,
round up a group for a FIGMENT field trip!

Anacostia Park <http://www.nps.gov/anac/index.htm>
 is a great place for a picnic, and if you have kids in your life,
there are playground areas in addition to all the art they can play
with. Addicted to Instagram? FIGMENT is rich with eye candy for a
photo crawl or selfie scavenger hunt. Bicycle lovers? Decorate your
bikes in theme together and ride the trails alongside FIGMENT, or
battle each other in our bike jousting
<http://dc.figmentproject.org/2012-about/projects-artists-2013/>
 matches! Get your club crew together for our lineup of fantastic DJs,
invite your stitch & bitch group to work on portable projects
outdoors, or celebrate everyone's unbirthday.

When you've planned your meetup, if you're looking for more partners
in crime, post about your plans in our Facebook event
<https://www.facebook.com/events/483415748413478/?ref=14>
 so new friends can join in the fun. We can't wait to see what you're
bringing!

Keep the vision alive

Our promise to you is that FIGMENT DC will always be a creative space
where all are welcome, where nothing is for sale, and where you'll
never see corporate banners and logos plastered all over. In order for
that to happen, we need the grassroots support of an enthusiastic
tribe that shares the FIGMENT vision. We need you! Even a small gift
brings us that much closer to the goal. You can also help by
forwarding this newsletter or reaching out directly to friends,
family, and coworkers to ask them to get involved. And if you’ve
already contributed, thank you for being our FIGMENT hero.
