Data Carpentry Workshops are designed to teach basic concepts, skills and tools for working more effectively with data and are aimed at researchers at all career stages with little or no prior knowledge of programming, shell scripting or command line tools. Software Carpentry workshops are intended for researchers who wish to improve their software skills and will cover basic concepts and tools including program design, version control, data management and task automation. For more information, go to softwarecarpentry.org.
The workshops are provided by the Data Carpentry and Software Carpentry organizations and are funded by a grant from the National Networks of Libraries of Medicine, New England Region, awarded to the libraries of both Boston College and the University of Connecticut.
Those of you who attended the November Data Tools Forum at UMass Medical School will recognize many of the resources/tools to be covered in this workshop.
