hey everybody this is Robert with RJM Water Filtration

There are alot of questions regarding contaminated water!

Let's start with the basics:

The building blocks to water treatment are as follows:

Remove the mineral (softener)

disinfect (in line chlorinator or pump)

final rinse (carbon filter)

The building blocks stay the same in all cases except pretreatment in certain cases (high iron, high sulfur)

Now let's get started

IF you have a softener then a carbon filter that either draws chlorine or peroxide for backwash purpose you could be in trouble. What i mean by this is that there is no disinfection. The carbon filter gets disinfected during backwash, NOT WHEN YOU ARE USING THE WATER ON A CONSTANT BASIS. If you have an iron filter followed by a softener you have no Disinfection.
