Welcome to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Advocacy group. This is a private forum for ACR members to share and discuss timely information regarding federal and state legislation and regulatory action affecting the rheumatology community.

We are thrilled to have you become part of our mission to empower rheumatology providers to excel in their specialty through advocacy. Here are some of the opportunities you have to get involved as a rheumatology advocate:

Read the ACR@Work Newsletter The ACR publishes a bimonthly electronic newsletter for members with the latest news and activities relating to advocacy and policy updates, practice management, insurance issues, and more. See the latest issues.

Use our legislative action center: The ACR legislative action center makes it easy to contact your elected representatives and advocate for the health policy issues you care about. Congressional offices use constituent letters, faxes, phone calls, and emails to gauge constituent opinion on specific issues. We'll provide you with the latest information on pending legislation and tips for making your voice heard.

Follow us on social media: We regularly post updates on our social media accounts. Follow us @ACRRehumDC to stay informed and share our posts with your friends and colleagues.

Donate to RheumPAC: Our nonpartisan Political Action Committee (PAC) helps to elect and support candidates who are committed to advancing rheumatology causes. Your contribution will educate, elect, and support federal lawmakers who understand and address issues that impact the rheumatology community.

The ACR can support you as an advocate by:

Publishing the latest news of ACR’s advocacy efforts on our website.

Setting up in-district meetings with your lawmakers in a district office near you. Members of Congress typically can spend more time meeting with constituents in the state, and such meetings tend to be more focused and meaningful.

Assisting with a letter to the editor in your local newspaper. A published letter can be an extremely effective way to grab the attention of your Member of Congress and influence him or her to act on a particular health policy issue.

Inform the Government Affairs Committee of your advocacy priorities or issues you are facing by contacting ACR Government Affairs staff at advocacy@rheumatology.org or (404) 633-3777.
