Hi,

Using ACRA 4.4.0 configured to display notifications on a crash, I experience the following problem:
If the app crashes, a notification is given as expected. However, if the user dismisses the notification and thereby does NOT send a report, the notification pops up again if the app is killed and relaunched.

Expected behavior: If the user dismisses a notification about an error, it should be gone permanently.

This worked fine in 4.2.x which is used before (we spoke about it in a much earlier thread) but now the problem appears again.

Best regards,
Martin

Hi,

An issue has been opened a few days ago about this:

Hi Kevin,

Thanks. BTW, I am the developer of GentleAlarm, one of the 5000 alarm clock apps for Android.
This thread you mention refers to "deleteIntent". Is something you would implement on your side or is this something I can do now?
If this is something you will fix from your end, how long do you think it will take you to add this?

I am in a bind:
- I don't want to use ACRA 4.2 anymore because it crashes on some devices in ACRA.init.
- I can't use ACRA 4.4 because of this notification problem (users get very upset and confused if there's a crash notification at app start even though the crash happened a long time ago).

Best regards,
Martin

There might have been a recent regression, the parameter deleteUnapprovedReportsOnApplicationStart has been introduced in 3.2 with a default behavior set to discard unapproved reports on app start.
Anyway, the deleteIntent method should be more efficient in doing this task. This is something I have to fix in ACRA's source, or you can contribute a patch via a pull request if you fill like doing it yourself.

I can't promise any deadline for ACRA updates as this is a spare time activity for me. I'll do my best.

I understand. Not sure if it makes sense for me to dig into your code as I am worried about messing something up.

I will go back to the version I had before for now.

I reverted to ARCA 4.2.3 and the problem does NOT occur there.
