Subject: Fw: Sign on letter to support river activists targeted by lawsuit - deadline Thursday 6 OctoberThe European Water Movement signs the attached letter.European Water Movement, Europe - http://europeanwater.org - he...@europeanwater.orgThierry Uso for the European Water MovementDear European Rivers Summit Participant,Thank you for making the Summit such an informative and fun event. We’llbe putting the presentations, resources, outputs and photos on thewebsite soon and will let you know when everything is available. We want to bring your attention to an urgent request for help from oneof the speakers. On Friday 30 September, Sunčica Kovačević of FoundationAtelier for Community Transformation presented their successful campaignbanning small hydropower in Bosnia and Herzegovina - and urged everyonepresent to sign a letter of support being sent by EuroNatur, Riverwatchand Foundation Atelier for Community Transformation on behalf of twoactivists who are being targeted by lawsuits for defending their river. The letter is attached and below is their request:Justice for Sunčica and Sara! Two young female activists from Bosnia andHerzegovina have been targeted by the Belgium company “Green Invest”(100% owner of the local company Buk doo) for trying to stop the companyfrom exploiting their local river. Green Invest continued to operate andconstruct two small HPPs even though legal actions were undertaken bythe affected community and at the time, environmental permits wereannulled. Yet, they hit the two activists with threatening letters andunbearable financial expenses as a result of this SLAPP case. We alongwith many others are demanding that the investor withdraws thedefamation lawsuits which are clearly designed to obstruct theactivists’ work, intimidate, and silence them. Want to help us servejustice? Please sign the attached letter by sending your agreement toput your organisation’s name on the list of signatories by Thursday,October 6th, to Lejla Kusturica le...@actbih.orgBest,The ERS Team
