Analysis in Acq4

Hi,

I am new to Acq4, but I love its ease of use and modularity.

I was able to configure my camera, 700b patch amplifier and write protocols.

For some reason I was unable to figure out how use the analysis part of acq4.

Is there an example or documentation I am missing? 

There seem to be a lot of functions I would like to use but some have fixed paths (PSPReversal) or missing packages (TimecourseAnalyzer).

I am looking to do trial averaging, IV curves, Peak PSP measurements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Boaz,

The analysis system in acq4 is kind of in a weird state. We struggled for a long time to come up with analysis tools that were truly general-purpose; usually we ended up coding very specific solutions to each problem (these are what you found in the DataManager module, under the "analysis" tab). My current plan for those modules is to pull a specific few out, clean them up, and turn them into proper acq4 modules (so that they would appear instead under the "analysis" section in the main manager window). This has already been done for MosaicEditor.  

If you have any python expertise available to you and would like to resurrect any of those old tools, I'd be happy to help. Likewise, if you don't find anything useful in the Data Manager analysis tab, and you are interested in either coding your own analysis or converting data formats so the analysis can be performed in a different environment, I'd be happy to get you started on either of those as well.

Hi Luke,

 

I do have some experience with python but much less with adding GUI elements.

If you can point me to the right places in the code I will try to get something done.

Which branch / directory to look for the original thing?

What is a good example of a simple analysis module? I suspect the MosaicEditor might be too much for me to understand.
