Fingerprint lookup service: indefinite "pending" status

Hi, I am working with AcoustID lookups for the Internet Archive, using the python acoustid library.

I noticed recently a large percentage of fingerprint lookups hanging in indefinite "pending" status when calling acoustid.get_submission_status():

responses:

{'status': 'ok', 'submissions': [{'status': 'pending', 'id': 447767160}]}
{'status': 'ok', 'submissions': [{'status': 'pending', 'id': 447767160}]}
{'status': 'ok', 'submissions': [{'status': 'pending', 'id': 447767160}]}
{'status': 'ok', 'submissions': [{'status': 'pending', 'id': 447767160}]}

...

This goes on for over 900 seconds.

Is this normal behavior? Should I just increase the number of retries and interval between retries, or is there another root problem?

The service for handling new submissions had a problem. The process was stuck and not processing any new data. It's fixed now.
