Dear Acoular users,

a new version is available! Acoular 17.11 can be downloaded / installed from github and via the Anaconda cloud. The PyPI repository will be updated shortly.

Most of the changes have happened under the hood, with the biggest chunk being the migration from C++/SciPy.weave to pure Python+Numba for the fast-running core routines.

With this, the use of Acoular under Python 3.x is finally possible.

More information can be found on www.acoular.org

This version does not contain any new software features, since our principal goal for this release was to make Acoular available under Python 3. However, further updates can be expected in the not-so-distant future.

Best regards,

Gert

For people running into problems while installing Acoular on MacOS, the installation steps documented by user 1oly on github might be of interest: https://github.com/acoular/acoular/issues/15

Hi all,

There is now a package on anaconda.org for macOS / python 3.6:

conda install -c 1oly acoular

Please notice that this package is not official, approved or maintained by the acoular development team. However, as far as I can see, the package is fully functional.

Happy beamforming,

Oliver.

As there seems to be a demand, we now also provide a MacOS package through our official conda channel (conda install -c acoular acoular).
With the setup we currently use to build the packages it should be rather easy to also provide an installation package for other architectures (even independent from Anaconda), so please let us know if you can't find an Acoular install package for your favourite platform.

Great news,

I've removed my 'bootleg' to minimize confusion.
