Internet Explorer 8.0 blocks Web-pages containing activex content when
running from the local computer. They call this "local host lock
down." This creates a problem for web-pages created by the ACORNS
application (when clicking on the spider web icon).
Note: This problem does not occur when using other browsers.
There are a couple of workarounds for this.
First:
1) Right click on the file with the htm extension (created when you
make the web-page).
2) Click on create shortcut
3) You can then click on the shortcut and the web page comes up
normally.
Second:
1) Edit the file with the htm extension. A simple text editing program
like notepad will work.
2) Add the following statement immediately above the line starting
with <html
<!-- saved from url=(0016)
http://localhost -->
3) This statement is called "the mark of the Web" by Microsoft. It it
exists, the ACORNS Web-pages will come up normally.
