We apologize if you get multiple notifications of this
announcement. The new ACORNS 8.1 release is available for free download
at

Click
on the acorns link and then to the download page. ACORNS software
supports tribal language revitalization efforts. It enables language
teachers and their students to easily create and distribute indigenous
language lessons to execute on any of the popular computer platforms.
The
new release includes an Apple-based application, available from Apple
Store, that executes ACORNS lessons on iPad, iPod, and iPhone devices.
The desktop/laptop version contains minor updates to support the
Apple-based apps. With a single click, lesson files created on a
Desktop/Laptop then can be sent to Apple devices by e-mail, by
cloud-based programs (e.g. Dropbox), or by iTunes file sharing.
This
fall, we are planning a major new release of the WOLF dictionary
project. WOLF is used to create indigenous dictionaries; it supports up
to 100 different dialects/languages in one file. The new release will
include a search feature that will run using the Android and Apple
ACORNS Gallery Applications. It will also support custom sort orders for
languages such as Hawaiian and a template-based mechanism for
generating hard copy outputs. Finally, it will include several features
currently provided by the FLEX application.
Our
hope is for this software to prove useful to tribes working to restore
their languages and culture. It is free for non-commercial use.
