Hi all!

We seek to form 3 teams (each of 3 students) to represent UofT at ACM-ICPC Regional Round, which will take place on October 27-28th, 2017 in Windsor, ON.

You have to be eligible according to the ACM rules to become a member of an UofT team.

Please register for the qualification using this form.

Prerequisites: you need to be comfortable with programming in either C/C++, Java or Python in Linux environment (and processing I/O from stdin/stdout). Previous experience with competitive programming or taking classes like CSC263/265 and CSC373 is definitely an advantage.

In this round you will work on your own. You are allowed to bring books and printed documents. Additionally, online documentation for programming languages is allowed. Working on your own laptop is allowed. If you don't have a CDF account, then make sure to bring your own laptop with installed programming languages and development environments.

Best,
Denis

Just a reminder about the contest tomorrow. If you have registered for the contest, you should have received an email along the following lines together with credential to log into the submission server. If you haven't received it, or you have any questions, please, email me.

The contest will take place tomorrow in BA3175, BA3185, BA3195 from 12:00 PM till 17:00 PM. You should arrive early (at around 11:30AM) to set up. This contest is individual. You should not collaborate with anyone, and you should not consult the web, except for language documentation. You are also allowed printed material such as CLRS, Kleinberg and Tardos, and other algorithms/programming language books you might find helpful. You may use your personal laptop, or a CDF computer. If you do not have a CDF account, a temporary one will be provided for you. Setting up a temporary CDF account is a lengthy procedure (at least 10 minutes), so make sure to arrive early.

The contest webpage is http://vm004.cdf.toronto.edu/. You will find (through the team interface) problem statements by clicking on the problem name, as well as the submission interface. Reading should be done from standard input, and writing should be done to standard output. All of this will be available at 12PM tomorrow. If you log into the team interface right now, you should see the countdown till the contest.

I will not be present at the contest site, because I am currently away from the country, but don't worry -- a very capable assistant coach, Colin Li, will be available at the contest site to help you out with any questions. I will also be monitoring my email closely during the contest.

Best,
Denis.

Thank you everyone who participated in the qualification round yesterday! We had a great turnout. Special thanks to the assistant coach - Colin Li, who made the contest possible.

In the next couple of days I will be contacting those who qualified for the teams. I will also release the schedule of practices. Even if you haven't qualified for one of our teams this year, you are welcome and encouraged to participate in the practice rounds. This will help you to qualify for one of the teams next year.

Best,
Denis
