Hey everyone! Thanks for those of you who joined the googlegroup! This should be a great way for us to stay comunicating.
We will be meeting every:
Monday at 8:00 (7:00 if you are interested in joining the CTF)
Friday at 4:00
Friday meetings will act as our more administrative meetings, so if you want to get involved in the planning of our activities, come on in!
Mondays will be our fun days, where we will host our activities.
We will do our best to distribute an email out every Friday, keeping all members posted about the decisions made, as well as reminding all of upcoming activities
This is a quick discussion about what are our goals for this semester.
It is important we stay organized and scheduled to complete these goals, so here is a list of everything that was suggested on friday's meeting.
Feel free to add or comment to the list, and hopefully, as time goes on, we can continue to distill and focus our organization.
::The Goals of ACM::
*CTF*
Our Capture the Flag Competition.
We want to advertise as much as we can for the event, as well as training our teams.
The even will take place from November 5-6
Organizationally this is already complete, but we may wish to begin scheduling dates for practice/discussion.
*Speakers*
We would like to have a number of guest speakers.
Advertise amongst the Computer Science and related classes, so that all students who should hear the talk, do.
Speakers should be scheduled and accommodated by us.
*Programming Competition*
The International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC)
Training Programming Teams
Hosting local programming competitions
Submitting into larger programming Competitions
*Workshops*
Students among the ACM should be able to put on their own workshops, to teach skills to our members.
If advertised well, these workshops could be hosted for anyone, hopefully increasing our membership and activity level.
*Socials*
You know what they say: "Coders just want to have fun."
