Coaches,

PLEASE REGISTER NOW!!!

Register yourself and your team(s) at:

The date of the regional will be Sunday March 7, 2021.

This will be an online only contest this year with MANY important changes.
Currently the plan is to NOT have a fee this year to participate.
T-Shirts can be ordered through ICPC if you like for a fee but are not required.

The basic rules for participation in this year's contest are:

  • One workstation per team member.  This differs from the on-site competition with a limitation of one workstation per team.

  • Teams may build up a library of routines and code prior to the contest.  This differs from the on-site competition where every team starts with an empty home directory.

  • During the competition, teams may communicate about the contest only with their team members and contest officials.  Teams may not communicate about the contest with coaches, contestants on other teams, family members, etc.

  • Teams are permitted to use electronic and/or physical (e.g. book) resources available to them during the competition.  This includes online resources available to the general public.

  • Teams may not use fee-, institution specific-, or restricted subscription-based resources, such as restricted access journals, upgraded websites requiring payments, etc.

  • The competition will be run under the honor system, according to academic standards of conduct.

ICPC has set up several online practice contests.  It would be a good idea to have your students participate since the environment and rules have changed this year.  We have very low participation from GNY so far which is disappointing.  Please encourage your students to use these resources.

IMPORTANT REGIONAL PARTICIPATION NEWS
1. The North American Qualifier (NAQ) is schedule for Thursday Feb 11.
Part of the calculation for the number of teams we can advance to the North America Championship from our region is based on participation in this contest.

It is free to enter and I encourage everyone to have their teams compete.

2. We are developing the image that will be used for our online contest in March.
We are looking for teams to volunteer to help us with testing.
There are no restrictions on who can participate as this is just to help us work out any issues or bugs.  If you or your teams are willing to help out please contact me ASAP.
The first test will be sometime in mid-January.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will pass along new information as I get it.

Joe
