DETAILS
COST:
The team fee structure to be the same as last year $150 each team (including one coach per school), plus $50 per guest.
TEAM ADVANCEMENT:
In the past our region has been awarded one automatic ICPC World Finals slot to the winner of the Greater New York Regional. Depending on a variety of factors we sometimes have been awarded a second wild card slot to world finals for the second place team.
This year and going forward winners of regional contests in North America will no longer advance directly to the world finals. Instead, teams will advance to a North America Championship (NAC) Contest in February, 2020.
The NAC will have a “world finals” look and feel complete with excursions and activities for the teams that advance.
The Greater New York region will advance four (4) teams to the NAC. Each team advancing to the NAC must be from a unique school. The teams advancing to the NAC will compete against the winners from the 10 other regions in North America for slots to advance to the ICPC World Finals in Moscow next year in June. Schools will be responsible for transportation of teams to the event. All accommodations, meals and events at the NAC will be paid for by ICPC and its sponsors.
The official NAC announcement with complete details and rules will be coming in the next few weeks.
SPONSORSHIPS:
If anyone has any ideas or leads for corporate sponsorships, please contact me. Any sponsorship contributions will be used to offset the team fees and/or make improvements to the contest.
COACH ACTIVITIES:
We will have our normal coaches meeting to discuss the current state of affairs for the region and answer questions about the NAC
For those interested, NJIT will offer a tour of their MakerSpace.
Other activities suggestions? Is there any interest in a discussion/presentation panel of techniques/algorithms used in preparation for coding contests? Perhaps one or more of you would like to put this together? If you are interested please email me.
TEAM NAMES:
Format:INSTITUTION -TEAMNAME
INSTITUTION = University name or abbreviation. 1 < length(INSTITUTION ) <= 8.
TEAMNAME = Your team name. 1 <= length(TEAMNAME) <= 24.
Each individual institution must use the same name for the INSTITUTION field.
Eg. If Binghamton University sends multiple teams each team must fill in the INSTITUTION field with the same name.
BU-TEAMNAME1
BU-TEAMNAME2
BU-TEAMNAME3
OR
SUNYBING-TEAMNAME1
SUNYBING-TEAMNAME2
SUNYBING-TEAMNAME3
Most teams from last year would be valid with these new rules.
An example of a subtle change would be our champions:
Columbia - Kington
The space before the hyphen (-) would have to be eliminated.
Columbia- Kington or Columbia-Kington would be valid.
