Coaches,
After much delay I am now pleased to pass on the official announcement that the North America Championship is happening!!!
Quick Summary:
-Four (4) unique schools will advance from our region to compete in the North America Championship.
-The North America Championship will take place at Georgia Tech.
- The more teams and schools we have participating this year, the more slots we get next year!
- Please register your teams ASAP.
- If you know you are sending teams but not yet have the team composition register an empty team for now.
- I need to have a more accurate count to know how much food to order (we can't have hungry students)!
What is the North America Championship (NAC)?
- The NAC is a World Finals level competition for teams (from unique schools) that finish in the top tier of their respective regional competitions.
Where and when is the NAC being held...give me more information!?
- The NAC will take place February 19-23, 2020.
- It will be hosted by The Georgia Tech College of Computing
- ICPC will provide hotel accommodations and meals for all teams advancing.
How does this affect our region?
- Instead of having one (1) guaranteed spot to advance to World Finals, our region now has four (4) guaranteed spots to advance to the North America Championship!
- This means more schools from our region will have the opportunity to experience a World Finals level ICPC competition.
- More schools will be contenders to be a champion of Greater New York
- This should create more excitement and buzz for the students as there is more of a chance for advancement!
How did we arrive at four (4) schools advancing....why not more?
- This is based on the number of schools and number of teams for each of the 11 regionals in North America.
- Because we grew so much last year we got bumped to an additional slot.
- The more schools we get to compete and more teams we get to compete the more slots we will get next year for advancement!
- This is why we must try to grow our community and encourage more schools and teams to join our contest.
