The participating organizations for GSoC 2010 have been announced!
Some of the organizations being sponsored by Google this year include:
- GCC
- Google Open Source Programs Office
--o As I understand it, this includes any program hosting code on
Google Code. I could be wrong.
- Boost C++ Libraries
- FreedroidRPG
- LLVM
- Kernel.org
- Django Software Foundation
- Systers.org
- Honeynet Project
- Chromium/Chromium OS
If you are interested, now is the time to decide which organization
you'd like to work with. On March 29, the student application period
begins. By this time, you should already have been accepted by an
organization to take the lead on a project.
Below is the information posted on the GSoC Google Group:
======================
The accepted mentor organizations for this year have been announced
[0]. If you applied to be a mentoring organization, you should have
already received a notification of your acceptance or rejection (sorry
for the multiple emails). We accepted 151 total projects of which 19%
were new. As with every year, we had to make some very tough decisions
in 2010. We simply weren’t able to accept every great project that
applied. Once again, we are also bidding fond farewell to some past
participants in favor of bringing new projects into the program. We
greatly appreciate everything they have contributed to the program in
past years and hope they will remain actively involved in our
community. We want to thank everyone for their applications and would
encourage those who were not accepted to apply for future instances of
the program.
If you are a potential student for the program this year, now is the
time to start talking to organizations about your ideas for projects.
You have a week and a half before we begin accepting student
applications on Monday, March 29 at 19:00 UTC. Use this time to meet
your potential mentors and to discuss how you'd like to contribute to
their organization, especially your ideas for improving their code
base. Keep on eye on these program mailing lists, as we'll post notes
about additional resources for learning about our mentoring
organizations there.
