Live Streaming of the 2012 IEEE Honors Ceremony
30 June 2012 - 6:30 p.m. EDT (21:30:00 UTC)
Some of the world's leading technologists will receive IEEE's most prestigious awards at the 2012 IEEE Honors Ceremony. The event will be telecast live on Saturday, 30 June from the Westin Copley Place, Boston, Mass. at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

The work of these honorees -- whether in computers or microwaves, nanotechnology, power generation, or any one of the vast number of technical fields -- has made a difference not only within the profession, but within the global community.

Join us virtually for the live broadcast via IEEE.tv, to celebrate a night of spectacular achievements, awe-inspiring inventions and career work that has changed lives forever. The event will stream live to your mobile device.

Under the theme “Field of Vision,” IEEE President and CEO Gordon W. Day will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, and IEEE President-Elect Peter W. Staecker will serve a co-presenter to celebrate the honorees and their achievements.

Connecting Members With Value
Soon IEEE memberNet will become a more robust platform for finding and communicating with other IEEE members who share a common technical interest, membership, or affinity. IEEE is committed to improving the member experience so that all members around the globe can leverage memberNet for their professional development.

MemberNet will help members find and be found by other members, to share advice and knowledge and to build their professional careers. To make this possible, starting on 16 July member profiles will by default have the following fields opted in:
  • Name (Mandatory)
  • Grade (Mandatory)
  • Location – City, State (as appropriate), Country, and Section
  • Optional Memberships – e.g. Societies, Standards Association, Women in Engineering
  • Technical Interest Profile
  • E-mail Messaging (address will not be visible)
All members are being asked to sign in to myIEEE prior to 16 July to review and edit their profile. If a member wishes to keep their profile as it currently appears, they can simply select "Keep my preferences" once they are signed in. At any time before or after 16 July members can opt out, or edit, their profile. If members do not update their profile, the fields in the bulleted list above will automatically be opted in on 16 July.

An FAQ list has been developed to help answer any questions members may have. If further assistance is needed, inquiries should be directed to the IEEE Contact Center.

Connecting with this extensive group who share similar technical interests is not available anywhere else. Maintaining a current profile strengthens all members networking opportunities.

Title: Principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging:A Signal Processing Perspective
Copyright Year: 2000
Authors: Lauterbur, P., Liang, Z.
Publisher: Wiley-IEEE Press
Topics: Bioengineering
Abstract: In 1971 Dr. Paul C. Lauterbur pioneered spatial information encoding principles that made image formation possible by using magnetic resonance signals. Here Lauterbur, "father of the MRI," and Dr. Zhi-Pei Liang co-author the first engineering textbook on magnetic resonance imaging. This definitive text helps undergraduate and graduate students of biomedical engineering, biomedical imaging scientists, radiologists, and electrical engineers gain an in-depth understanding of MRI principles. The authors use a signal processing approach to describe the fundamentals of magnetic resonance imaging. You will find a clear and rigorous discussion of these carefully selected essential topics:

- Mathematical fundamentals;
- Signal generation and detection principles;
- Signal characteristics;
- Signal localization principles;
- Image reconstruction techniques;
- Image contrast mechanisms;
- Image resolution, noise, and artifacts;
- Fast-scan imaging;
- Constrained reconstruction.

Complete with a comprehensive set of examples and homework problems, Principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging is the must-read book to improve your knowledge of this revolutionary technique.
