A View Inside the Cloud
This month, The Institute focuses on cloud computing, which is really taking off. It's hard to watch television, read a magazine, or visit a website these days without coming across ads for services "in the cloud." Should your company be moving to the cloud? What's been holding it back? And what can we expect in the future? Learn what two IEEE senior members who are experts in
the field have to say about these issues and more.

Are You in the Cloud Yet?
If cloud computing's not exploding, then how do you describe a technology expected to generate 14 million jobs globally by 2015, according to a recent study by market researcher IDC? That number reflects myriad cloud services involving music, video, photo, and document storage offered by Amazon, Google, and a host of others. And then there are business services, such as the data analysis Hewlett-Packard announced in March. Cloud computing fans say they like being able to access their content
from any Internet-connected device and never run out of storage. But some hesitate to get into the cloud because of security and accessibility issues. Are you using a cloud computing service? Why or why not?
Will cloud computing take over as your main form of data storage? Weigh in by responding in the comment section.
Is Crowdsourcing the New Outsourcing?
Outsourcing has long been used by tech companies. But there's another employment practice picking up steam that you should be aware of: crowdsourcing. It involves a company finding temporary workers—usually through online communities or contests—to handle task-based projects or contribute ideas for new products and services. In the latest IEEE Roundup, Associate Editor
Ania Monaco asks readers: For a tech professional, is crowdsourcing an opportunity or a threat?
