Picking up where Turbo left off, Zordon is still a prisoner and Dark Specter wants to use his powers to spread evil not all across the earth, but the entire universe. This is the last series that was part of the Zordon era. This series also contained one of the cooler enemies, the Psycho Rangers. It aired on Fox Kids from February 6thto November 21st in 1998.

Set in the year 3000, Time Force is the police force that must deal with mutants and people with superpowers. A dangerous mutant, Ransik, escapes Time Force custody and travels back to the year 2001 after he kills the Red Time Force Ranger. Some of his subordinates also travel back to seek out his ancestor, using his DNA to create the Time Force Power Rangers. This series ran from February 3rd to November 17th, 2001.

Super Megaforce is of course the second season of Megaforce. Here, Gosei gives the Megaforce Power Rangers new morphers which gives them the ability to assume Super Mega Mode, which gives them the powers of all Rangers before them. It aired in 2014 on Nickelodeon from February the 15th to the 22nd of November.

The second season, Dino Super Charge, also spanned 22 episodes. Here, the Ranger team gets two new members and along with new, more powerful enemies come new, more powerful powers. Nickelodeon also housed this series, which aired almost all year in 2016, from January 30th to December 10th.

2018 saw the second season, Super Ninja Steel. The premise was that Madame Odius is still alive and now wants to steal the Prism more than ever. Here, the Rangers eventually claim the Super Steel and become more powerful than ever before.

The latest iteration of the show debuted on Nickelodeon in February of this year but was recently brought to Netflix, a reflection of where television is going in general. Here, the dinosaur theme is present for the fourth time. Alien beings called Sporix arrive on Earth and the newest Power Rangers must wield the power of the dinosaurs to defend our planet.

On May 12, 2010, Saban Brands bought the Power Rangers franchise including all world wide rights and property from the Walt Disney Company, and entered a partnership with Nickelodeon to air Power Rangers Samurai in 2011. The same year as Samurai was being produced, reruns of Jungle Fury and Dino Thunder were broadcast during hiatus periods going into Power Rangers Super Samurai in 2012. In celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary, Power Rangers Megaforce and Power Rangers Super Megaforce were aired as part of the Power Rangers 20 event, with historic rangers making appearances in Super Megaforce. In 2015 and 2016, Power Rangers Dino Charge and Power Rangers Dino Super Charge were aired, marking the first time PR had skipped Sentai seasons for a more recent entry. In 2017 and 2018, Power Rangers Ninja Steel and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel was aired, adapting Shuriken Sentai Ninninger and skipping over Ressha Sentai ToQger.

Each of the Power Rangers seasons, or "incarnations," centers around a group of people, often teenagers (the age range of the actors actually varies from 18 to 23 years old), that gain super powers to fight various villains, ranging from demons to witches to aliens. To activate these powers, these characters, known in general as the Power Rangers, "morph" (short for "metamorphosis") by performing a standard action and reciting a "morphing call." Throughout the series, the Power Rangers learn the importance of teamwork and perseverance as they battle progressively harder-to-defeat villains. Like its Super Sentai counterpart, from which part of an episode's action footage is taken, a monster is unleashed on the Power Rangers and it is usually up to them to oftentimes destroy the monster. (Only in two rare cases has a monster ever been spared or was good from the start).

Often, before a monster is defeated, a monster will grow into gigantic proportions, forcing the Power Rangers to use gigantic (bio)mechanical machines known as "Zords." In many cases, these Zords can be combined to form a more advanced (and human-like) machine, known as a "Megazord." In many series, because of the way Zords are combined, the Power Rangers may also use interchangeable parts to enhance their fighting power, or combine Megazords together to form larger Megazords. Though only in the first four seasons, there were extremely large combinations of Zords known as Ultrazords. Technically, two new Ultrazords appeared in Ninja Storm, but these formations were never referred to as such. Operation Overdrive, RPM, and Super Samurai were the next three series to feature official Ultrazords, even going beyond the usual number of Zords combined to create Ultrazords, the Drivemax Ultrazord using 10 Zords, succeeded by the RPM Ultrazord which used 12 and the Samurai Gigazord which used 13.

In each incarnation of the Power Rangers seasons, there are generally people outside the Power Rangers aiding their cause. Among them is a mentor or teacher figure to help lead the Power Rangers, Zordon for example, as well as a technical wizard or magician who designs the various tools used by the Power Rangers; William "Billy" Cranston is perhaps the best example of the latter. There are also characters who have tools and powers like the Rangers but are not Rangers themselves (Ninjor, etc.) Characters for comic relief are generally also present, with such characters attempting to discover the identities of the Power Rangers (Bulk and Skull, for instance), and nearly succeeding on several occasions.

Each team of Power Rangers, with few exceptions, obey a general set of conventions, outlined at the beginning of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and implied throughout many of the other incarnations, although not stated explicitly. These include the Power Rangers being forbidden to use their Ranger powers for personal gain or for escalating a fight, explaining why the Rangers do not simply step on the small monsters with their Megazord. The Power Rangers are also forbidden to disclose their identities to the general public, barring extenuating circumstances. (This rule was disregarded, however, in Lightspeed Rescue, S.P.D., the final installment of Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, and RPM). The penalty for violations of these rules, at least in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, would be the loss of "the protection of the power."

Tommy Oliver, a new kid in town with martial arts skills that rival even Jason's, catches Kimberly's eye, as well as Rita Repulsa's. She kidnaps Tommy and places an evil spell over him; by granting him a power coin, he transforms into her Evil Green Ranger! Infiltrating the Command Center, Tommy gives Alpha 5 a virus and disables Zordon. Rita then lures the teens out by growing Goldar, but our heroes are surprised by the Green Ranger. The Rangers overpowered, retreat to the damaged Command Center. Without Zordon, the rangers are not able to learn anything about their newest enemy.

With the Command Center still incapacitated from the Green Ranger's attack, the Ranger teens remain at a loss for a plan. A repaired Alpha 5, Billy and Trini attempt to repair and restore operations with Zordon. Soon after a successful training run involving Putties, Rita gives Tommy the Sword of Darkness, which acts as a catalyst for keeping him under her evil spell permanently. After he meets with Jason, Tommy then teleports the Red Ranger to the Dark Dimension! Trapped, with no way out, no morphing method, and no way of contacting his teammates, Jason faces Goldar alone. Back on earth, the remaining rangers face the Green Ranger again.

Watching Goldar demolish the city via the viewing globe, The Rangers have no choice but to morph and activate Megazord. All part of Rita's plan. A spell eclipses the sun and cuts off Megazord's solar power reserves. Using her Magic Wand, Rita grows Scorpina, and soon after, Green Ranger! Though the Power Sword adds a boost of energy, the Megazord soon falls to the trio of evil. The Zords separate and scatter into a burning chasm opened by Repulsa. With their fighting spirit diminished, our heroes return to the Command Center, and the true identity of the Green Ranger is soon revealed.

Since Power Rangers derives most of its footage from the Super Sentai series, it features many hallmarks that distinguish it from other superhero series. Each series revolves around a team of youths recruited and trained by a mentor to morph into the eponymous Power Rangers, able to use special powers and pilot immense assault machines, called Zords, to overcome the periodic antagonists. In the original series Mighty Morphin, the wizard Zordon recruits "teenagers with attitude" against Rita Repulsa.[6]

When "morphed," the rangers become powerful superheroes wearing color-coded skin-tight spandex suits and helmets with opaque visors; identical except in individual rangers' color, helmet design, and minor styling such as incorporating a skirt. Morphed Rangers generally possess enhanced strength, durability, agility and combat prowess. Some possess superhuman or psychic abilities such as super-speed, element manipulation, extra-sensory perception or invisibility.[7] In addition, each individual ranger has a unique weapon, as well as common weaponry used for ground fighting.[note 1] When enemies grow to incredible size (as nearly all do), Rangers use individual Zords that combine into a larger Megazord.

Rangers teams operate in teams of three to five, with more Rangers joining the team later. Each team of Rangers, with a few exceptions, obeys a general set of conventions, outlined at the beginning of Mighty Morphin and implied by mentors throughout many of the other series: Power Rangers may not use their Ranger powers for personal gain or for escalating a fight (unless the enemy does so), nor may the Power Rangers disclose their identities to the general public.[note 2] The penalty for disobeying these rules is the loss of their power.
