Universal dependencies for uralics

Hi all, welcome to the mailing list.

one of the things we talked about in Szeged was work towards universal dependencies of uiralic languages. We have set up a brat instance at http://gtweb.uit.no/sigur/brat for further annotations. I think it would be a good thing to have the 20 example sentences annotated for uralic languages. I tested annotating Finnish already and going through the 20 sentences with POS tags first takes a few hours of non-concentrated work and coming up with main part of the dependencies probably few more. If you are interested in contributing or know someone who could possibly do some annotations, contact me off list either on this Google mail or Uni. Hamburg one at tommi.ante...@uni-hamburg.de. We basically need all Uralic languages apart from Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian that are already covered by the UD project, they can be used as a reference though. I think getting a solid basis for uralic UD's would be important for the computational morphosyntax etc. and the start point of the 20 common sentences annotated comes with relatively small effort so if you have a chance to participate it would be a very good thing. I won't send further messages about the same topic to the list but if we get enough interest we can organise ourselves on some other forum if needed.
