Siamo nel 1982, mentre la nazionale di Bearzot si laureava campione del mondo e tra Argentina e Inghilterra si combatteva la guerra delle Falkland il regista Michael Winner si trovava alle prese con il secondo capitolo della saga Death Wish ovvero "il Giustiziere della notte", naturalmente con Charles Bronson ancora nei panni di Paul Kersey.
Menhaem Golan (produttore) aveva dato carta bianca al regista nell'affondare il dito nella violenza pi trucida, ed era d'altronde il canovaccio della sua Cannon Film, della quale si ricordano memorabili film d'azione, fantascienza e horror di quell'ormai lontano decennio di plastica (mi chiedo poi se abbia ancora senso chiamarlo cos, considerando i giorni correnti).
Queste dunque le carte in tavola, e se nel primo film del 1974 si poteva ancora respirare un' aria da empireo del cinema (Paramount) ed era fresca l'uscita del bestseller di Garfield, in questo caso si era proprio nel campo del B-Movie propriamente detto, in cui un volto che bucava lo schermo poteva essere il maggiore stimolo per invogliare ad andare a cinema. Detto ci la musica per un film del genere non poteva essere affidata di nuovo ad un grande jazzista come Herbie Hancock, che ad ogni modo si era cimentato in un film di mezzanotte come Freeman l'agente di Harlem. Stavolta serviva qualcuno che musicasse in modo cinico scene di stupri e omicidi ed il degrado urbano di una Los Angeles che a quei tempi era davvero un bell'ambientino. Chi poteva esser pi adatto se non uno che aveva saccheggiato e violentato la musica nera americana e l'aveva portata agli estremi della tecnica; fu persino troppo facile convincere Jimmy Page, il quale era vicino di casa di Michael Winner.
Page, ben accompagnato da ottimi strumentisti e dalla GLC Philarmonic, suona chitarre acustica, elettrica e synth, sintetizzatore, basso e theremin (singolare strumento di fabbricazione sovietica che annovera una vasta gamma di suoni).
Who's to blame: Appena parte sembra di sentire la In the evening che apriva l'ultimo disco dei Led Zeppelin "In trough the out door", ma ad irrompere la voce nera di Chris Farlowe (che lavorer ancora con Page) e non quella di Robert Plant. Nel film il brano accompagna i titoli di testa, senza voce e con il sottofondo del radio-notiziario di Los Angeles che informa sulla cronaca nera.
The Chase: Inizia come hard blues lento di sola chitarra per poi essere bombardato dalla batteria e dalle tastiere che fanno da preludio agli assoli e ad un atmosfera da brividi perfettamente orchestrata.
Jam Sandwich: Senza dubbio il capolavoro del disco. Il brano che pi si avvicina agli Zeppelin prima maniera. Batteria marziale,un riff vigoroso e assoli carichi di adrenalina e concentrazione. Memorabile la scena in cui la gang di cui fa parte un non ancora noto Lawrence Fishburne ascolta il pezzo alla radio prima di infastidire Paul al parco divertimenti con la figlia e la compagna (Jill Ireland, moglie di Bronson).
Carole's theme: Composizione classica e struggente. Si consuma il dramma della povera figlia Carole e i suoi carnefici sono a piede libero. Kersey inizia a meditare la sua vendetta e il ritorno per le strade.
Hotel rats and photostats: Arie lugubri, violini stridenti e sintetizzatori impazziti. Un pezzo ideale da ascoltare nel lettore mp3 mentre si attraversano le zone pi malfamate della propria town.
A shadow in the city: Un'ombra si aggira in citt, il nostro Paul Kersey. Suoni miminali si alternana a sonorit dal sapore Prog e Kraut, mentre nel finale si cede il passo ad una marcia tra lo psicotico e il funereo.
In Jill's theme Tribalismi e cry baby fanno da preludio ad una esecuzione orchestrale a tratti su di giri e a tratti malinconica, che strizza l'occhio a Williams e Hermann, mentre in Prelude il tempo da ballad si interseca con la chitarra che la fa da padrona. Big band, sax and violence inizia con un'insolita allegria ed un sax sopra le righe, i quali aprono la strada alla ripresa pi funkeggiata e spensierata della precedente Jam Sandwich. In Hypnotizing Ways (Oh Mamma) ritorna la voce di Farlowe, per una classica forma da canzone rock con assolo del Page che si pu finalmente sbizzarrire in ci che l'ha reso famoso.
Una colonna sonora che veste perfettamente i panni del film. Camaleontica nel suo alternarsi, ossessiva nel sottolineare una vendetta dipinta nello sfondo di una putrida metropoli che, come si percepisce dai titoli di coda, continua a vivere la sua notte come se niente fosse.
Fabio Bartolo Rizzo (born 22 May 1979), better known by the stage name Marracash (.mw-parser-output .IPA-label-smallfont-size:85%.mw-parser-output .references .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .infobox .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .navbox .IPA-label-smallfont-size:100%Italian: [marraˈkɛʃ]), is an Italian rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Starting his career in the rap group Dogo Gang, he debuted as a solo artist rising in fame in the 2010s releasing six studio albums that reached the top ten of the Italian Albums Chart, including two top positions with Santeria (2016) and Persona (2019). The rapper has also released numerous successful singles and collaborations scoring seventeen times the top ten of the Italian Singles Chart. Thanks to his work he has sold over 5 million copies in Italy, becoming one of the top selling Italian rappers in the 2010s.[2]
In the course of his musical projects he has sung and written songs with numerous artists including rap artists like Gu Pequeno, J-Ax, Fabri Fibra, Emis Killa, Club Dogo, Baby K, and pop influences artist as Tiziano Ferro, Giusy Ferreri, Elisa, Federica Abbate and Elodie.
In 2013, together with producer Shablo, he founded the independent record label Roccia Music, which involves established figures and newcomers to rap, producers and DJs.[3] From 2012 to 2014 he host MTV Italy's freestyle music TV program MTV Spit.[4]
Fabio Rizzo Bartolo was born in Nicosia, Italy, from a mother who worked as a custodian and a father who worked as a truck driver. He has a younger brother. His family then moved to Milan in a house in Bramante;[5] when he was ten, he was expelled from his home with his family, who moved to the suburbs of Barona, where he grew up and still lives.[6]
After graduating as an electronical technician, Rizzo recorded his first verses under the pseudonym Yuza delle Nuvole, appearing in Prodigio's 1999 demo "The Royal Rumble", alongside Il Guercio, Fame, Aken and Corvo D'Argento. He adopted the stage name Marracash after his childhood nickname, Marocchino (Italian for 'Moroccan', jokingly because of his Sicilian origins), as a pun on the name of Marrakesh.[5]
In 2005, under the Contagion Area label, Marracash published "Popolare", a single product by Don Joe made available for free download for network users.[8] The song anticipated the release of the mixtape Roccia Music I, mixtape in which the Dogo Gang (Club Dogo, Vincenzo da Via Anfossi, Deleterio and Ted Bundy) collaborated and guests such as Inoki, Co'Sang, Rischio, Shablo, Misa and Royal Mehdi.[9]
In June 2008, his first solo album Marracash was released by Universal Music, which reached the ninth position of the Italian Albums Chart, receiving a gold certification.[10] Guests of the album are Gu Pequeno and J-Ax, Vincenzo da Via Anfossi and Jake La Furia.[11] Two singles were extracted from the album: "Badabum Cha Cha", which becomes the singer's first top ten, and "Estate in citt".[12]
In 2009, he participated together with 55 other Italian singers in the realization of "Domani 21/04.2009", a musical track published in a charitable way to remember the victims affected by the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake.[13] Towards the end of the year the song Cani pazzi, which anticipated Marracash's second album Fino a qui tutto bene, out on 13 July 2010.[14] The collaborations present are with Giusy Ferreri in "Rivincita" and Fabri Fibra in "Stupidi", with less success than the previous project.[15]
In September 2011, he released the song "King of rap", which anticipated the eponymous album released in October.[16] The album debuts at the third position of the FIMI chart receiving the platinum certification.[17] Later in 2012 he released the collaboration "Giusto un giro" with Emis Killa and announced the inauguration of his own record label, La Roccia Music.[2][18] On 22 December, Marracash conducts the first episode of MTV Spit, a television program focused on the rap battle between artists of the underground scene.[19]
After the release of the collective album Genesis with the artists of the Rock Music of 2013,[20] on 20 January 2015, he published his fourth studio album Status which reached the number 2 position of the Italian Albums Chart and 32 of the Swiss Charts.[21] From the album he releases the homonymous single "Status", which peaked at number 2 of Italian Singles Chart, "Senza un posto nel mondo" with Tiziano Ferro, "In radio" and "Niente canzoni d'amore" with Federica Abbate.[22][23]
In 2016 the rapper announced the release of a studio album with Gu Pequeno.[24] Published on 24 June of the same year, the album is entitled Santeria and is composed of fifteen tracks, which became his first number one album.[25] The forerunner single "Nulla accade", released on 7 June, is certified double platinum and reaches position number 16 of the Italian Singles Chart.[2][26]
After the release of the album collecting hits for the 10th anniversary of Marracash's release, on 12 June 2019, he published the collaboration with singer Elodie, "Margarita", which peaked at number nine of Singles Chart and selling over 100,000 copies in Italy.[27] On 31 October 2019, the sixth album of the rapper Persona is released. The album peaked at number one of FIMI Chart and receiving the double platinum certification.[28] It was supported by several hit singles, including "Marylean", with Salmo and Nitro, "Crudelia - I nervi" and his number one song" Supreme - L'ego".[29][21] On 6 March 2020 he released a new track "Neon - Le Ali" featuring Italian songwriter Elisa, peaking at number five of Italian Singles Chart.[30] In 2020 the rapper collaborated with Dardust in "Defuera" and the third lead single from Persona "Sport - I muscoli", which peaked at number three of Italian Chart.[31]
