2007 report on drugs which were approved by state drug controllers but not approved by the Drug Controller General of India:

Madras Court stayed ban on 294 drugs by the Drug Controller General of India.

These drugs were banned as being "New Drugs" defined under Rule 122E in the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules. The DCGI argued that all these drugs were new formulations as they were Fixed Dose Combinations and any change in the composition (however slight) would make them a "new drug".
