 Dear All.

Poonam and I have just returned after driving from Mumbai to Orissa ,returning via Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. This was a long standing ambition after earlier road trips that we'd done.

We drove 4814 kms sharing the driving load equally.

It was an amazing journey .We did sixteen destinations in 21 days. And  each day was magical.

We are proud that we could could do this with Vijay's diabeties, blood pressure,a stent and osto arthiritis in his broken ankle. Poonam just had cataract done in both eyes and has a problem which restricts her to home food largely. BUT We had no health problems . Thus proving the adage that " it's all in the mind.

Our state of being actually improved!

We had made pious resolutions of good behaviour before we left, like not driving beyond 80 kms per hour and eating fruits and salads mainly .Most of the time we drove at 110-120 and ate all kinds of stuff in fancy restaurants and  Dhabas on the Highway.Due to a long experience of denial we blamed this irresponsible behaviour on the children. They have not brought up the parents right.

For me the journey straightened my back and I felt physically more  agile. Some unconscious  processes also calmed me down significantly and I hope it lasts. Also a special thanks to Vajpayee for creating such fantastic Highways.Grateful to my investor friends who are busy improving GDP while I enjoy driving on the roads they create.(Vijay).

For me this was a journey of exploration at several levels. From the West coast to the East coast the landscape changed, the colour of the soil changed, crops changed , faces and clothes changed.... a beautiful experience. And since we were in such a positive frame of mind we enjoyed each moment. We experienced the wonders of nature -- Borra caves , Chilka lake , Marble rocks , Dhuandhar falls and the mighty Narmada and Mahanadi . We drove through our fabulous forest reserves at Debrigarh, Achanakmar and Bandhavgarh. Experienced our rich culture and history at Puri, Konarak and Sanchi. We also met such wonderful people . I realised how blessed we are . On a personal level we realised that we are much stronger and resilient than we thought and often miss out on things because we think only of what may go wrong.  (Poonam )

And we enjoyed exploring and learning GPS.
