The problem is, when the user closes out of the message box, the form cursor is switched to the "Help" cursor with the question mark on it. This is not good. How do I prevent the cursor from changing? I tried putting this.Cursor = Cursors.Default and this.Cursor = Cursors.Arrow after the message box call, but it was ineffective.

While there is lots of information generated from those who want to remove the question mark (at least three SO threads are devoted to the topic), the documentation for QDialog doesn't have anything about how to actually use it.

When this button is clicked and WhatsThisMode is triggered, the elements of the dialog are supposed to give info about themselves. And if mouse hovers over an element that supports this info then the pointer will become a pointing arrow with a question mark (on Windows at least), with a tooltip message displayed on mouse click.

In a simulation, I have screens where, to add authenticity, I have placed a series of rectangles each covering a menu option and each with a normal (100% transparent) and hover (75% transparent) state. The states are changed as the user moves the mouse over the options highlighting the hovered over option (as it does in the actual application). One rectangle also has click event to move the story onto the next slide. Becasue there is an action event, the cursor changes from a pointer to a hand. How can I prevent this?

I have tried hot spots with the 'show hand cursor in hover' option switched off (no states), placing a hotspot over the rectangle stops the' mouse over' working and vice versa stops the click event from working.

This thread is a bit older, so I'm not certain John is still subscribed - but there is a tutorial here on working with hotspots and how to disable the hand appearing when hovered over a hotspot. If you've set it up as a button the hand will still appear to let the user know that they can click there.

This way, if they didn't click any single wrong object and the right object state is hover, then they must have clicked the correct object. And, I don't get the hand pointer because there is no click trigger or selection or visited states.

Hi Leslie: Thanks for the time to do the little video. Your team is so good! SO, I knew that workflow - in this case, there the target total space is just so small that there may not be room for "wrong answers". But I'll see how I can adjust. So I am clear moving forward, WHAT types of Hot Spot quiz questions do NOT employ the "Show Hand Cursor on Hover" option? Any other types of questions?

Hello! Piggybacking on this: I have a video in a slide that doesn't have hotspots or anything interactive. When I publish, the little hand appears instead of the arrow; it doesn't do this on other slides with videos, and I'm not sure where my error is.

Your settings look great, so I published the course to Review 360 using Storyline 360, Update 32. I'm having some trouble reproducing any issues in Chrome. Have no fear, though; we'll get to the bottom of this together!

I've added a rectangle with 100% transparency on Slide 2. The new shape created a barrier between the video and other objects on the slide, so the hand doesn't appear. I've attached the .story file in this reply. You can view the Review link here.

Is it possible to change the mouse cursor when a user hovers over a text Label? Essentially, I want to make certain text Labels act like Buttons, if possible. I want figure out a way to turn the mouse cursor from the "arrow" pointer to the "hand" pointer when the user hovers, similar to what happens with Buttons.

To resolve, add a search icon and configure it with the launch parameter for onselect then expand the search icon over the text and in the properties and delete the icon.search text under the icon properties. Now when you hover over the text it will change to a hand.

@PhilD is correct. However, be mindful of eliminating accessiblity properties like Hover and Press. Instead, you can keep them but make them less intrusive with a HoverFill like RGBA( 0, 0, 0, 0.05) - this is still colorless, but imparts a slight fade effect to help those who benefit from accessiblity properties.

If we have a label named 'LabelGalleryItemTitle' and we want it to appear clickable, we can put an icon over it, say one named 'IconClick', then set these properties (I used a simple right arrow icon)...

@Jenifer
No, you cannot make the mouse cursor change to a hand when hovering over a label. The workaround is to place icon or button over top of the label and set the Visible property to this code.

This is the custom code written by your team at your end. As per my understanding with the provided code, your team wants to show helps icon for any requirement. That help icon resides inside a table. Inorder to show help question mark on hover of that icon they have added the custom code

The cursor randomly jumps around the screen while at idle and while I am using it. One example, if I am in an excel spreadsheet and trying to click on a box it will jump and highlight a section of the screen or take off across the row or column. If I am trying to click on somewhere specific on the screen the cursor will jump and click something different. I have no control over it. At times it is so bad the computer becomes unusable. I just purchased this computer late last summer or early fall. I changed the setting to shut off the touchpad while my logitech mouse is plugged in. I have removed the usb connection on my logitech mouse and the problem persist. If I completely disable the touchpad the problem perists. I have done a complete virus/spyware scan and the system is clean. I have applied the most recent windows updates as well. I will intermitt Lastly, I have rebooted the system. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you

As I understand the touchpad moves and clicks on its own causing issues around the desktop screen,
don't worry as I will be able to help you out, although, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution:

Regards,

Thank you for the information and very detailed instructions. I ran the quick test and everything passed. I then went out and did a component test of the touch screen and the pointing device. All tested well. I then followed the link to the drivers you suggested. I installed the latest update of the touchscreen drivers as well as the touch pad. So far all seems well. I will keep you posted and update the status if this works. Thank you again for all of your help, it is truly appreciated!!!

Good morning. I accepted the solution yesterday and today the problem recurred. The cursor jumps to the middle of the screen and can be seen continuously, rapidly shooting from the center of the screen to the top of the screen. I first noticed it in internet explorer but now I am seeing it in all programs. When I am not using the cursor, I will see a spontaneous random flicker of a small circle in the center of the screen traveling upwords before disappearing, when using the cursor the same will happen with the pointer. Thanks again for your help!

I have the same problem with mine after only 3 weeks of owning it. I sent it in to HP for warranty repair on 4/6. I was assured on 4/11 that I would receive my computer back no later than the end of the month. Now I am being told that there is a shortage of parts and I won't get it back until June 6.

This is totally unacceptable. I bought this computer after much research to transfer videos for my mother's memorial service at the end of June and it looks like I will have to buy another laptop that actually works to get this done.

If you click the question mark button in the upper right corner of the setting dialog box for the printer driver, the mouse pointer changes to a question mark. Move this question mark over the item whose Help information you want to view, and then left-click to display the Help information.

As you may well know, a cursor is the little pointer that moves around as you move your mouse around. You may also be aware that the cursor often changes its look, depending on what page element its hovering over. For example, if you hover over a hyperlink, the default behavior for cursors is to change into a pointer or a hand.

For example, you could make a CSS cursor change into a question mark when the user hovers over an element that displays a tooltip when clicked on. Another popular use of CSS cursors is forcing a pointer/hand to be displayed when hovering over a JavaScript "artificial" link. More specifically, a link that doesn't use the HTML tag - such as some text with an onclick event handler. For this type of link, see JavaScript Links.

A word of caution. If not used carefully, CSS cursors have the ability to make drastically reduce usability of your website. Make sure that you only change the cursor when it really makes sense - like when building a custom interface using JavaScript or similar. Usually you'll find that HTML produces the most appropriate cursor for the occasion.

Hi everyone,
I've just installed Rasperrypi Os with Xfce, everything else looks fine, but the mouse pointer blinks, sometimes it even dissapears. It's like something is constantly refreshing. I'd like to fix this not only because it's pretty annoying to see and work with, but I also wonder if there's anything wrong in my setup.
I'm on a RaspberryPi 5 with 8gb of ram, running on a 500gb nvme bottom hat.
Let me know what other information you would need, I have no idea what to do about this.
Thanks,
