Invitation to participate in the Gender Identity Week, 4 – 8 March 2019

To commemorate this year's National Women's day, the School of Women and
Gender Studies (SWGS) in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden have
organized a Gender Identity Week, from 4th – 8th March 2019 at Mak,
SWGS. The week will be composed of online conversations/campaigns,
electronic and print media engagements on critical gender issues running
from 4th to 6th March. The School will further convene dialogues and a
training on 7th and 8th March 2019, 8:00am.



Gender Identity Week 2019 program

4th March: Online conversations on masculinities, empowering cultural
aspects, gender and commoditisation of the female body. The hash tag is
#GenderWeek19


5th March: Online conversations on masculinities, empowering cultural
aspects, gender and commoditisation of the female body. The hash tag is

6th March: Online conversations on masculinities, empowering cultural
aspects, gender and commoditisation of the female body. The hash tag is

7th March: Dialogue on the role of the University in promoting gender
equity, 8:00am - 1:00pm at SWGS LH2. The hash tag is #GenderWeek19


8th March: Dialogue on interrogating miss curvy pageant: Gender and
commoditisation of the female body, 8:00am-1:00pm at SWGS LH2. The hash
tag is #GenderWeek19


8th March: Launch of the Wikigap campaign, 8:00am at Makerere U Library.
Attendance is by invite. The hash tag is #GenderWeek19


Participation is free and open to everyone.
