Iwas wanting to know if it is now possible to have the Palo Alto firewall log url traffic with the username from chromebooks. It shows the username for all windows users as it syncs with AD, but can't get the chromebook users to show up. I set Google to work with Cloud identity engine, thinking that might be a solution. So far can't get them to show up in the logs by username. IP address only. Is this even possible? If you are going to sell URL Filtering, seems you should be able to log users activity by username.

User-ID and Chromebooks is a very common request. Check out this URL -> =kA10g000000ClSNCA0#Chromebooks-and-Us.... You could use a Chrome plugin as described. You could also use GlobalProtect with Internal Host Detection. Or, you could use the Authentication Portal as @BPry mentioned.

I did more research about Keepass on a Chromebook and I think I have found a solution. What I am looking for is a completely offline Keepass app that would not use any cloud based syncing or Chrome extension. The app I found is Keepass2Android Offline. Does anyone have experience with this app?

First, I would like to know if it works on a Chromebook. I assume it would but I have not seen that written explicitly anywhere. I would also like to know if it is installed completely on the SD card or whether the executables have to be install on the Chrome OS and the data file on the SD card. I can't find that info anywhere. Any additional installation tips would be much appreciated.

Your database should never be saved on anything other than a hard disk/SSD. You can copy it to other media, but only as a backup / temporary use.

If you lose the SD card / it becomes corrupt, you will have lost all your passwords.

I spent an hour trying to figure out how to connect KeepassDX in my Chromebook Chrome browser... no luck. I ended up installing the KeepassDX app through the Play store and it gives a message about it being intended for mobile - but, it works great on the Chromebook as a standalone app. So, definitely a pita to open a separate app but, better than having to find another utility.

Most modern chromebooks allow you to set up one or more linux containers. You can install a desktop linux keepass program onto there (either keepassXC or the original keepass version 2). It won't integrate well with the chromeOS browser since the container isolation prevents the chrome browser extension from working and prevents autotype from working. But you can still read the passwords and type them, or cut and paste using clipboard. If you want, you could install a browser of your choice into the linux container and use that for your browsing, but personally I stick with the regular chromeOS browser.

In general I prefer the interface of desktop apps over those of mobile apps. I use keepassDX on my phone and keepassXC on my chromebook linux container. I store the master kdbx on google drive which can be accessed by both. Syncing works fine as long as I remember to manually "reload" the database from inside the app in keepassDX (when I open keepassDX I see a stale version of the database which does not include changes made by other devices until I reload). You might watch out for that (make sure to reload) if you're using keepassDX either on phone or on chromebook

I switched to a chromebook this month from a pc. I use dropbox for all my storage. I have setup dropbox in my folders and get to my dropbx files. but they open very slowly. I have also used google drive as a test and those files open almost instantly.

I know this is an old post but I was having the same problem on my ASUS Chromebook (2022 version) and found a way to make the files load faster and appear with thumbnails. First, I deleted and reloaded the Dropbox App in order to assure I had the most recent version. I then went into the App Info Settings and set it to open in Dropbox instead of the default Chrome Browser setting. These simple steps seemed to have solved the problem for me and I hope it does for you or anyone else who stumbles across this post as I did.

I had a problem with my HP Chromebook's keys intermittently not working--the y, m, n, etc. They would work, then not work, and it was very frustrating esp to log in b/c I could not get my password typed in.

I thought I would need a new keyboard, but my wonderful ex husband thought we should try clean and reseat the keyboard connector to the motherboard. The top panel assembly was removed (after removing the bottom case screws)..

thank you so much. The first solution I posed was very temporary----my chromebook was still under warrenty so I was able to send it back. My husband did the first fix but didn't think it would take and it did not.

As the cable leaves the keyboard unit it is folded almost immediately (the folds are clearly marked). The second fold in the cable is about 4" (from memory) further down the cable - it is this fold which is causing the keyboard to fail.

Towards the front of the keyboard, in the palmrest area, there are two metal brace pieces (one on each side). These are flat pieces of metal which have slightly turned edges to increase rigidity. One of the turned edges of this brace is interfering with the second fold on the cable. On a keyboard which has this issue, you can see that the fold in the cable is creased slightly more where the edge of the brace piece has squeezed it. You can replicate the issue with the keyboard by *gently* squeezing the cable at this point. This impacted keys 6, 7, y, u, h, j, n, m on my Chromebook.

My solution has been to move the fold of the cable away from this brace. By *very gently* re-folding the cable about 2" away from it's exit point on the keyboard unit (gently rubbing the cable with the back of your nail is enough) and securing the cable to the keyboard unit with electrical tape, the second fold will be away from the brace causing the problem. Possibly overkill, but I've also (carefully) removed the metal brace (simple to do, just scratch off the top of the plastic welds holding it in place) as the brace was already loose and is so flimsy it's unlikely to be providing much by way of support. However, re-folding the cable in the right place should remove the requirement to do this.

This is my fix. You can see the two black lines on the cable where the original folds were, with the new fold just below the grey electrical tape (I've moved the barcode sticker off the ribbon cable). Just to point out, I didn't make a second fold in the cable, just let the cable find it's own way.

Very unhappy with this problem. Bought HP because I wanted quality for my daughter to do her school work. A little tougher than expected to get machine apart. Found HP doc explaining how. You basically have to remove everything rubber to get at the screws you can't see. And also power off laptop with laptop open for safety.

However, this fix works! Mine didn't have the brace, just a piece of tape. I added a small piece of cardboard under the ribbon cable on the edge that caused the problem. I did everything else the same.

Daughter said it made the feel of the touchpad different. It's a little stiffer, probably because of the different bends and the cable extending closer to the touchpad itself. But the keys all work perfectly.

So I am not prepared to try and open the back of the machine to fix it myself but want an HP repair. I have tried today to raise a ticket via the support website; so far no email yet received confirming my ticket and I cannot see it from my account login.

Hi there I was going to try this method, i have undon the screws but im having trouble getting the back case off has anybody else had this problem if so is there a simple way to do it because I feel like I'm going to break it otherwise?

When I join a meeting, the meeting window does not appear and the main window displays a bar with the description "Click here to go back to the meeting". If I click the bar, it flashes a second window but disappears instantaneously.

I have 3 different chromebooks and I had the same problem with the 3 using different accounts. Only happens in chromebook. I uninstalled the app, clear everything, cache and data information and go back to google play an install it again, same problem.

@dpcruz hello all. Everyone at my company is affected by this and we've put a lot of time and effort into fixing before realising that the issue is with the app itself. I've reported this directly to Microsoft but I'm not hopeful of a quick resolution.
