HI Zeynep!

No one else has responded besides you, so I think they either forgot
or are busy.

Agree with you with question 1 being straightforward and can be
obtained from the case.
Question 2 & 3 are related and includes the calculations of the real
options pricing. Assumptions on how it is structured is important. And
Question 4 & 5 are related.

Z: your suggestion is great! Let's both try to calculate the per-film
value of the portfolio and compare our results by Sunday. Emailing
should be OK.

Best,
Trang

Hi again!

My initial thoughts are as follows:

The last paragraph of the case on page 7 describes two ways of
calculating the value of the sequel rights for a film and in total.
From the description only, the second one sounds a bit more
convincing; however I believe in the power of numbers so my idea is to
calculate both and make the comparison with using numbers. The
business sounds very risky to me and a bit complex for creating
contract with clear terms and conditions without any loopholes.

There are 5 questions to address. The first one I think is straight
forward, could be answered based on the given information. The second
and the third I find highly correlated and they require the
calculation in order to answer. 4th and the 5th is again are
correlated but can be, I think answered from the case description and
also some insightful thinking.

My approach would be to calculate the NPV's of both methods, compare
the results and then structure the paper based on the outcome mutually
agreed. We could also agree to divide those too if not everybody wants
to get in to the numbers. I have some free time tomorrow and would be
willing to work on it as I'm also curious to find out whether I can
correctly :-).

We could compare our results by Sunday and then divide the writing for
each part to each of us, though I'd happily follow any other
suggestions. Trang, you're the leader in this one so you show the
light! ;-)

I'm going to have dinner with friends now, however I will have my iPad
with me, so if I will still be available for a conference call at 10pm
my time as agreed.

Catch you all soon, one way or the other... :-)
