Hi All,

I prefer the BioTech solutions case :)

I was able to take a stab at the BioTech Solutions case. Attached is
the excel sheet that contains:
- Cash flow forecast table (copied from the case)
- Timeline for exercising options
- Calculation for static DCF
- Table of parameters used for the real options valuable
- Binomial tree of expected cash flows (building forward)
- Binomial tree of exercising options (without technical risk)
- Binomial tree of exercising options (with technical risk)
- Sensitivity analysis on WACC and volatility

It would be good if someone else did the same thing to see if we get
at similar numbers.

here's my calculation, using your sheet. :) was easier. I added one worksheet for the binomial model. the dcf I'm with you. There is one thing that is different on the binomial tree, we'll discuss that tonight.

of 2 small questions/clarification points. If you have an idea on how
to calculate the beta of the risk with and without technical risk, let

Can you pls tell me how you calculate how many years to discount for in the calculation of total pv of costs (2,5,9 for phase 1,2,3 respectivey?) in the cash flow forecast tab sheet?

Hey Raj, 

it's in the case, it gives you that the total period is 8 years, then when it describes each phase it tells you how long each phase takes. We assume that the investments are made for, say phase 2, at the end of phase 1 and right before phase 2. Does that clear it a bit...?

anything happening on the write up of the second case? I will be sending Bio by tomorrow latest as first draft for everyone to go over. Let me know if you guys need any support for the second case?
