Icut out the duct tape and taped it all around the bottom of the ball. Forming what I call a respectable looking duct tape base for the ball.

Then I cut the shelf liner into sharp, leafy shapes and glued them around the ball and the stem.

at my school this year for spirit week, we are doing disney day. i want to be maleficent, so i really needed this. thanks! do you have any suggestions for the cape, though? i have everything else figured out.

Do you mean the collar or the cape itself? The cape is a vampire cape that I got I from a thrift store but you can go to any Party or Costume store and they should have it in stock (or even order online). Another alternate would be to use a flat black bed sheet to create into a cape and just trim the fabric to size. Hope that helps some and have fun with your Spirit Week!

I also made the staff but I used a clear plastic Christmas ornament which I coated the inside with glow in the dark paint, placed one of the tiny white Christmas lights (rewired one to a 9 volt battery) & placed it inside the ornament then glued that to top of staff (not the battery-that gets wrapped to the staff so you can press it when you want to light up the ornament) it came out awesome and people wanted to know where did I buy it! Also I purchase one of those feather covered crows from Walmarts and glued an elastic band to its feet I wore him on my wrist when carrying the staff!

Wow! My daughter is going to a costume banquet that is Disney themed. And we used your DIY Maleficent staff to add the perfect accessory. Thanks! It came out wonderfully. I am not crafty or creative, so this was a huge help. Thanks a million
