Ibought a Wifi USB Stick with rt3070 chip (Here the Amazon Link: WLAN USB Stick Verstrker Dongle 150Mbps 100mW ) and wanted to get the Stick working with the WDR4300 (and also with TP-Link mr3020) and Attitude Adjustment Final.
can you explain in detalis how can i install firmware for this TP-Link mr3020 router and to works with Wifi USB Stick with rt3070 chip. I cant understand how to install it and when have i to write these commands.
[1] unrelated as in, rt3070 != "NETGEAR WNDA3100 v2". rt3070 is supported by the mainline kernel for ages, this topic is about getting something working which should work, maybe with a little help. "NETGEAR WNDA3100 v2" on the other hand is completely different hardware, using a Broadcom, instead of RaLink/ Mediatek, chipset, a chipset which doesn't have any kind of mainline linux support, and therefore isn't supportable (I don't even think that a closed source mips driver exists).
Hello.
I have a problem with my wifi adaptor.
The problem is this : when I boot my pc ( from shutdown mode) all thing ok and my wifi adaptor finds the modems and It connect automatically to my network but when I restart from windows or linux to boot to the linux , then my wifi adaptor light is turned on after booting to linux but not finding the modems to connect.
I should say that I dont have any problem with this wifi adaptor on my windows 10 and 11.
And I should add this : I test other wifi adaptor and it works with no problems but this adaptor have problem after restart to boot to linux !
I should say that I had this problem in other distros too and in garuda I have problem in connecting to network( because the driver not installed on garuda like other distros) and one of the admins says to install rtw88-dkms-git and that problem fixed that it reconnect to net randomly).
but as I said I have problem after restart that my adaptor not find the modems and I should always replug my wifi adaptor to find my modems after restart mode.
Running Windows in a dual boot can often cause wifi problems. You will need to ensure all wifi powersaving in Windows and fastboot are disabled. Search the forum for directions if you are unsure how to do that. Post your exact steps you took to do this.
I should say that I had this problem in other distros too and in garuda I have problem in connecting to network( because the driver not installed on garuda like other distros) and one of the admins says to install rtw88-dkms-git and that problem fixed that it reconnect to net randomly).
then you mean what when you said to me ,I already posted this once yesterday?
and what driver I should install for my wifi adaptor?
because in the below link its link for similar drivers not worked.( the link not shows any package on arch aur website)
=164042
ok but now I am on garuda linux !
and because of that I make this topic.
the thing that was confusing me is that when I didnt install rtw88-dkms-git , my wifi adaptor connecting to internet but I think it was disconnecting and again connecting and connection not stable and disconnecting much and after I install that driver and then my wifi working well and it has just not working after reboots to garuda linux like that I see this behaviour on ubuntu too( I didnt install driver at ubuntu for wifi ) .
some mins ago I uninstalled rtw88-dkms-git and then reboot , then I see that my wifi adaptor not working at all !
even when I replug it.
what is the problem here ?
and what driver would you suggest?
I think you mean that rtw88-dkms-git cant make the ralink rt2870/rt3070 working?
but if you want I reinstall it again and say it is working or not after installation of that driver?
for me this is a question how my adapter working with driver ?!
after I uninstalled that , then my wifi not working with rt2870/rt3070 adapter!
is rtw88-dkms-git installed by default on garuda linux?
on ubuntu I see this behavior that my wifi adapter working but after restart that was not working and I need to replug that.
when I installed rtw88-dkms-git my wifi act like how in ubuntu.
and when I uninstalled it dont act like ubuntu and other distros.
because that it was question for me and I dont know what happend?!
Do not keep referring to any other adapter on this thread anymore. I do not want to hear about this other adapter model again. We are only dealing with the adapter you were running when you ran the garuda-inxi command. Do not bring up any adapter other than the rt2870/rt3070 adapter listed in your inxi as this only muddies the water. Do not connect any other wifi device while troubleshooting is in progress.
Be sure that MAC address randomization has been disabled. Search the forum for instructions on how to do that. Reboot after disabling randomization. Report on exactly how you did that.
Thanks.I wil do this codes and tricks and say the results.
but my bios version is the latest stable version.
I check now the asus website and it gives just a new beta bios version and I think we should wait until it gives the stable version.
I found the Panda Wifi (b/g/n) 150Mbps Wireless-N (802.11n) USB Adapter. It says there is Linux support. However, I want to make sure there are open source drivers included with the Linux kernel. Does anyone know what the chipset for this adapter is? What driver it would use?
I found where they sell them in a 2 pack on amazon here. There's one review that goes into some detail about how it didn't work with Fedora or OSX, as well as the chipset which if you do decide to go for it should allow you to find the drivers. However, at a glance, not being able to find a web page for whoever makes these, and the negative review i'd have to give it a pass. The company selling them does respond to the review, but it looks like you'll have to build your own kernel if you even want a chance at this working.
Update 4/29/2012I have to eat crow on this one. Two things:1) I tried the Panda again this morning, and it works fine. Ubuntu 12.04. This seems to indicate that this unit is plug and play.2) As part of the Amazon sale, I received and email from Panda with an email address for tech support. Before got the unit working, I sent them strongly worded email and got a prompt and professional response asking for basic troubleshooting information (is the led blinking, run lsusb and ifconfig and forward output to support. Right after I set the response email, I got the unit to work, so I can't tell you anything more about the support, but FYI the lsusb returned -- Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:3070 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2870/RT3070 Wireless Adapter
To test, I installed it in a Windows Vista machine. I had to run the install program from the disk - Windows did not automatically detect and install. It works fine. In device manager the driver is listed as rt2870.sys version "3.01.08.0000" by Ralink Technology, and shows two hardware ids: USB\Vid_148f&Pid_3070&REV_0101 and USB\Vid_148f&Pid_3070I guess this means this is a Ralink rt3070 chipset, using the rt2870 driver?
I am no bithead, but I un-tarred the file and opened the readme, which seems to give some reasonable instructions on how to MAKE the driver from the source code files provided. I am about to embark on that voyage. I am starting with the wikipedia article on MAKE (Software).
I could not find information about this device anywhere other than Amazon (all Google hits were just clones of the information on Amazon), so as such I would be EXTREMELY hesitant to recommend purchasing it until you know at least the device's USB IDs so you can check for a driver properly.
I bought this adapter from Amazon for my Fedora 13 Linux machine. They have Windows, Mac and Linux drivers on their web site. The seller (Panther Networks) gave the detailed instructions to compile and install the Linux driver on my Fedora 13 machine when I asked for it.
My brother wanted to get a Wifi adapter to his vintage G4 iBook running Mac OS X 10.4 and I tried to install the latest Mac driver from their web site but it didn't work. I asked the seller for help. He gave me another version Mac driver and the adapter worked right away after I installed the driver.
I have a big problem, I use Dm355 as a camera with wifi function. so I select an usb wifi module(ralink RT3070 chip). this usb wifi is working very nice on DM355. but my camera is also connected with PC by USB cable,
In the above layout I see that the ID pin from the connector is not connected to the ID pin of the DM355 usb controller (ID pin at device connector is going to TV out, ID pin at host connector is getting grounded). Without the ID pin sense DM355 usb controller will not swith modes and probably explains the problem you are experiencing.
Having said that you would also need to set the DM355 usb driver in the correct mode when you are switching the D+/D- pins. For this you would need to build the USB driver in OTG mode. This will enable the USB controller to sense the ID pin and accordingly the USB driver can switch mode dynamically.
I believe you should be able to achieve your end goal without radically changing your configuration. When you are loading your related .ko's can you also build the USB driver as module and reload it too?
Meaning build the usb controller as a kernel module (musb_hdrc.ko) and everytime you are switching the roles unload the existing musb_hdrc.ko module and reload the new musb_hdrc.ko module (that has been built to support the new mode).
Not sure if I fully understand your question. I have more questions than suggestions. My understanding is that using a TS3USB30E switch, a PC based configuration works with your system but a DM355 based configuration does not work. It is not clear to me as to what your configuration looks like.
I do not have any knowledge of the switch device you are using. Assuming that the switch is non-intrusive and works well switching back and forth between the two devices you are accessing, could this be a s/w issue? Have you tried to capture the packets on the bus to insure that you are doing a similar access as a PC does?
