Every Dad knows how much stuff is needed for a day at the beach. We also know the pleasure of getting it there and back is usually ours. The Shibumi Shade is so easy to carry and put up by myself. Love it!

After many broken beach umbrellas, finally purchased this 2 years ago in Hilton head. Best buy ever for beach equipment. It travels very easily and is always useful. You do need some wind at least 5 to 7 mph. There is a method on line or youtube to attach clamps and use sand bags on the end when the wind is very light.. highly recommend

We bought our first one about 2 years ago and loved the ease to with we Assembled it. Because of being so lightweight, we now brought a shade canopy every time we went to the beach or out on the boat.

Was given my Shibumi May 2019. A minimum of two weeks dependable service every year since. Spring 2024 my over zealous grandchildren attempt to set up the shibumi unsupervised. They crack a pole. Sweet Shade Ability Center is located inside Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park, and is the home of City of Irvine's Disability Services. The center was renovated in the summer of 2019 and features a multipurpose room, kitchen, courtyard, garden, and play area. The center provides Disability Services programs to the community during the week, but is available for public reservations on Saturdays. Sweet Shade Ability Center's outdoor garden is located adjacent to the multipurpose room and general play area. It features grass, limited shade areas, and three benches. Maximum capacity is 75 people.

Sweet Shade Ability Center's outdoor courtyard is accessible through the multipurpose room. Use of the courtyard is available with a reservation of the multipurpose room for an add-on fee.

What makes this tutorial different is that you will be using the mechanism, and hardware from a cordless mini blind, but you are removing all of the blinds and attaching a true roman shade (boning and all) to the mechanism.

First step is to measure the inside of your window width and height. Then you need to purchase the supplies below, including a cordless mini blind with measurements that coordinate with your window measurements. (Tip: make sure you measure the width of your window at the top, middle and bottom. Sometimes the measurements can vary. Go with the SMALLEST one)

Fabric of your choice: for these roman shades I used this table cloth I found at target. It was the perfect weight and the color and pattern were exactly what I was looking for in the room. I was able to get 2 shades out of each tablecloth.

Cut out your front fabric with an extra 2 inches on each side, 4 inches on top, and 3 inches on bottom. Place the backing fabric on top of the front fabric, with the dowel pockets down. (See image above).

After the binder clips are clamped on, remove the bottom stopper, and slide all the blinds off. When you are done there should just be the top mechanism, 2 pulley strings, the bottom bar, and the stoppers left. (See image below)

Add your roman shade rings. Lay the strings straight down the length of the shade, and mark just above the seam for the dowel. Then with a needle and thread secure the rings into place just above the dowels all the way down the shade on both sides.

How have these held up over the years? I think they are brilliant idea, and solve the weird gluing of the plastic mini blind issue that looked not so great. Specifically, has the fabric stayed glued to the upper and lower shade mechanisms? That would be my only concern about longevity.

Shade trees are large trees with wide, dense canopies. When mature, a shade tree is taller than 25 feet. Trees help control stormwater runoff by capturing large amounts of water during a rain storm and keeping it out of local rivers and streams.

RiverSmart Homes will plant shade trees for residents for free. There is no cost and no limit to the number of trees a resident can have planted on their property through RiverSmart Homes.

Participants should note that RiverSmart Homes will not plant shade trees in the tree box (the area between the sidewalk and street). To request a tree be planted in the tree box, residents should call 311 or submit a request with the Urban Forestry Administration. For street tree inspection, planting, pruning, or removal go to trees.dc.gov/pages/tree-services.

Once RiverSmart Homes plants a shade tree on a property, the program participant is the owner of the tree. Program participants are responsible for properly maintaining their shade trees. Shade trees require ongoing maintenance, especially during the first two years after planting.

Residents of Port Angeles can apply online to request a free Street Tree Planting Permit and receive up to four free trees from the City Shade Nursery. Residents also have the option use their permit to plant a tree purchased on their own. Other participation opportunities include assisting during the October 19th tree-planting and distribution event, coordinating neighborhood street tree maintenance, and helping out at the City Shade Street Tree Nursery.

Trees are an integral part of our community, and they provide a wide range of benefits that help to enhance our quality of life. Trees improve air quality, provide habitat for our wildlife, and prevent erosion and reduce stormwater runoff. The shade trees provide can help to cool our streets and sidewalks, reduce the temperature in urban areas and lower our home energy bills. Trees also boost property values and enhance the beauty of our homes and public spaces.
