Hardware issue with Acer Aspire 4740

Hi all,

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 on Acer Aspire 4740 (core i3). My laptop got
power off suddenly, and this power problem occurs more frequently
after 3-4 hours. In windows, till now I have not seen this issue. Its
mother board got replaced and now the hard disk, but I am still not
able to get the reason for the problem. Is this is because of
incompatibility of acer_wmi or acer acpi driver ? if it is so then how
can I detect this and How can I solve this? Same problem occurs in
fedora 13 also, there some time it displays a message related to
overheating while booting.

Hey,

Try to unload the module and see if it's still rebooting?

sudo rmmod acer_wmi
