Greetings ACE NW,
Thanks for all those who attended the meeting this morning, I wanted to send the link regarding a good resource that helped me prioritize my work within Backyard Habitat and the Land Trust. Though the document was created through the Regional Arts & Culture Council, most of the information could be very applicable to our work in conservation education and engaging diverse audiences.
The other document I mentioned was how to measure our effectiveness, looking at a Whole Communities model. http://measuresofhealth.net/ It’s very land trust focused but maybe something of value.

Morning,
A dear friend, Kathleen Holt recently worked with Ifanyi Bell on a video inspired by his essay in the latest issue of Oregon Humanities magazine about growing up black in Portland. It’s a bracing, gorgeous, and a powerful five-minute video that contemplates loss and hope in Portland's black communities.

For me, watching the video helped me understand on a much deeper level the work we do in North Portland within Backyard.
All my best,
Thought I’d share this recent article in the New York Times…
“This research also suggests an intriguing possibility: that pro-environmental messages specifically targeting conservative values could close the moral gap and persuade conservatives to join the environmental cause.”
