Hi all - We had a nice little meeting and here are some take-aways from our conversation. Please feel free to correct or add anything to these and share back out. Thanks so much!

ACE NW Transition Meeting minutes
Present: Kathy Shearin (EMSWCD), Cathy McQueeney (CSWCD), Charlotte Towbridge (TSWCD), Farrah Fatemi (Metro), Carl Grimm-facilitator/note-taker (Metro)

Meeting goal
Discuss the future of ACE-NW and identify a coordinator candidate to take over for Carl who leaves for a year starting in August.

Discussion
ACE NW is seen by meeting participants primarily as a high-level conservation education content and message development group for the region that coalesced around and produced an important resource Native Plants for Willamette Valley Yards. Since participating in a Center for Diversity and Environment Power, Privilege and Tools for Change retreat, the group has served to support members' advancement of equity goals within their organizations. ACE NW has also contributed to other content development projects, shared knowledge and fostered coordination and collaboration throughout the region.

However, without a major project to work on, the group has had less energy and fewer participants.

Additionally, several other groups and project collaborations have since formed (partly at the initiative of ACE NW members) that fulfill many of the core purposes of ACE:

* Clean Rivers Coalition (statewide message development and communications alignment)

* OregonFlora Native Plant Gardening web portal (going digital with ACE NW's flagship resource)

* SolvePestProblems.org (statewide urban IPM education tool)

* Urban Watersheds (on-the-ground implementation alignment)

* Regional SWCD meetings on equity
None of these groups by themselves nor perhaps even in combination serve the full purpose of ACE NW. Hence meeting participants suggest that ACE NW not be disbanded, but rather, reconvened in person in six months and maintained at least until then as a communication tool for members to inquire and share through.

Specific recommendations

1. Identify an interim coordinator to make sure the items below happen (Carl to take lead on this)

a. Hold the next meeting December 4

b. Keep the Google Group going

c. Add some more information to the ACE NW project page on the Intertwine website that includes a way to sign up for the Google Group, and links to ACE-NW's spin-off and sister projects (Native Plant Gardening Portal of OregonFlora, SolvePestProblems.org, Clean Rivers Coalition, Urban Watersheds, etc.)
