There's certainly debate about what actually causes acne, probably
because the causes of acne can vary from one person to the next. In
addition, the level of acne that one person has can be much more or
much less severe when compared to others. This is one of the reasons
there are so many acne treatments available on the market today. We
all see just a little bit different results from each of these
solutions but until you try them, there's really no way to know how
well a particular remedy is going to work.
Because of this, many acne patients try out several different acne
remedies in a constant battle to fight back against current acne
outbreaks and to prevent future occurrences of acne. In addition to
the more common acne treatments most of us are familiar with, many
acne sufferers also seek out alternative acne remedies as a possible
answer to this common skin problem. Some alternative remedies have
been shown to clear up the skin quite well and aside from clearing up
acne, they can also improve the overall health of your skin in
general. Here are a few of the types of alternative acne treatments.
Acne Home Remedies
Instead of using costly prescription drugs or over-the-counter
medications, many acne patients seek out a more cost-effective
solution in the form of one of the many home remedies for fighting
acne. The good news is that some of these remedies can be as effective
against acne as their medical counterparts. But it's important to keep
in mind that there hasn't been a lot of in-depth study and scientific
proof laid out to verify the claims of some of these remedies, or to
determine any possible side effects. And as we'll see with all of
these alternative treatments, the time it takes before you see any
noticeable effects might be unreasonable for you, especially if you're
suffering from severe acne. These types of treatments can work, but
usually take longer than using purely medical solutions.
Natural Acne Treatments
Another way to cut costs when fighting acne is to look for natural
treatments. Since they're all natural, you can also avoid many of the
harmful side effects that result when using medications. The issues
raised earlier about the lack of scientific proof to back things up
also apply here, though many people see excellent results. But natural
treatments also take longer than medications, so you should keep that
in mind as you decide whether or not a natural treatment should be
part of your acne-fighting arsenal.
Herbal Acne Remedies
Herbal acne remedies, on the other hand, hold a bit more promise and
are some of the most powerful forms of acne treatment other than
medications you'd have to get from your doctor. These can also be used
to help avoid harmful side effects from those types of medications but
like the other two categories mentioned earlier, they take longer to
work. While an herbal acne remedy might not be for the impatient, the
end result can be well worth the longer wait since many people also
report good results with herbal acne remedies.
Alternative acne treatments are probably something every acne sufferer
should at least try out. There's certainly something to be said for
getting all the benefits of medication without any of the side effects
and you never know how well these remedies will work for you until you
give them a try. Hopefully you'll be able to find an alternative acne
remedy that works for you, either as part of your current skin care
regimen or as a replacement for powerful
medications.
