I'd do anything to get rid of this acne!
Sound familiar? Well if so, you're not alone. In fact, millions of
people worldwide do battle with acne every single day. And whether you
have mild to moderate acne every once in awhile or you're constantly
fighting severe acne outbreaks, you can get to the point where it just
seems like nothing is going to help get rid of this embarrassing, yet
common skin problem.
No one has been able to determine a single cause of acne. In fact,
there are likely several factors that contribute to acne development.
Some of the factors that can lead to acne forming or make it harder to
get rid of include environmental factors, hormones, and reaction to
cosmetics. In addition, poor diet can impact acne development.
The good news is that research has shown that most acne medications
available today can treat 9 out of 10 cases of acne. Other, more
drastic measures might need to be taken for severe cases of acne but
for most of us, it's clear that the acne medications available are at
least worth trying and, most likely, will produce some favorable
results.
Acne medications come in three broad categories, either traditional,
homeopathic, or herbal.
Traditional acne medications are the type you're probably most
familiar with, the medications lining the shelves of your local
pharmacy or that your doctor might prescribe.
Homeopathic acne remedies use herbs and other natural materials to
help cure acne. However, these must be obtained from a licensed
homeopathic specialist as opposed to simply buying them like you can
with over-the-counter medications. Your specialist can help determine
the cause of your acne and which remedies will work best in your
situation.
Herbal remedies also rely on herbs that can be mixed together to
create acne-fighting treatments. Certain herbs, when mixed together,
not only have acne-fighting properties but also help detoxify the skin
and reduce inflammation. Typically, you won't need to rely on a
specialist to obtain these ingredients, though it's always a good idea
to check with your doctor or other medical professional before
starting any type of treatment, even if it's all natural.
More than likely, your regimen for acne treatment will develop over
time as you determine which remedies work best for you. In addition,
keep in mind that most likely, it will consist of a combination of two
or three of these broad categories of medications. And finally, be
patient, since no acne remedy produces immediate
results.
